Hi guys,
I know that I  haven't been on forums as much to share my experience with others, which is shame really, but I need your help and hope you sort me out:-)

as my profile indicates, I have already passed 210 through 219 which is MCSA already, I am wondering if I take 221 would be accepted as second elective exams to get MCSE.
The reason why I am asking is that I've just checked the Microsoft secure site and seem to me that kind of changing has taken place with core exams and elective exams.
I do appriciate your help.

wish you all best of luck with exams.

It is my understanding that there are four core examinations, one design exam and two electives.

If you look at the Microsoft web site for MCSE requirements, there is a footnote (#2) next to 70-219, 70-220 and 70-221. It says at the bottom of the page that they "...may each count once as either one core design exam or one elective exam."

The way I read it is that two design exams can be used toward the certificate: one for the core and one for the elective.

Looks like they have added a lot more tests to the MCSE line-up - reflecting the new operating systems. No doubt getting ready for when they will drop Windows 2000.

My two cents:

Micro$oft makes a profit peddling software - not certifying people.

Yeah, but Jeff, you're special Cheesy

I took 219 and 221 and 218 as my design core and electives to get MCSA and MCSE.

I hafve not finished yet, but I have take both 218 and 220.  In my mind, Pavlov took the easy way out.

Just had to say that, and I will add that I have alot of respect for both of you (Pavlov and Jeff).  Your input into these threads are both helpful and encouraging.

I like to be here and help if I can. This is a great personal endeavor for those of us that are out here doing it on our own. This board is probably one of the best places around in terms of population and activity and relavence. If someone needs a question answered or is looking for encouragement, it's good they have a place to come to such as this board.

Thank you guys , I do appreciate that youve been very kind and helpful. Just to let you know that I also called the Microsoft and I was told that I could take 221 as another elective exam.

Well to be honest after all those spending energy & ? $         I am just hoping if there is really demand for MCSE qualified people out there. Is there???

I took 221.
While it had alot of depth I didn't find it as difficult as 216.

Cheesy

I guess another way to look at it is that Pavlov took the path of least administrative effort Wink

If I had given it more thought, I would have squeezed in 228 and 229 instead of of 219 and 221 and that would have fulfilled all the MCSE requirements but would have left me with MCSA - MCSE and MCDBA.

One day I'll go back and finish the two SQL exams for the DBA but I'm enjoying my time away from the test center for now Wink
