The current time frame to know if you have passed or not will be published in about 5 weeks. What's the game plan in the mean time? Do you plan to go after the MCSA, or use this exam as an elective for the MCSE?

What if you, find that you didn't pass and you want the MCSA? What steps will you take then? Who's got the best plan "B"?

If I passed I only need 1 more test for my MCSE and will have my MCSA.

If I didn't pass I will still need 2 tests for my MCSE.

There are a lot of options to make the MCSE happen, not quite so many for the MCSA. What route will your goals include?

If MCSE is you final goal, I'd say MCSA is a good stepping stone. You'd have probably passed one or more of the following to be invited to take the beta of 70-218:
70-210
70-215
70-216

If you've passed all the above and want to continue sitting for exams, then go for 70-217, which is a core for MCSE. Then choose a design core. And lastly an elective.

By then, you'd have known your result for 71-218. If you pass, congratulations! If you fail, just do 70-218 again and you'd be MCSA + MCSE.

If you have an even greater plan, then choose one of the SQL exams as your other elective. Then one more SQL exam and you'll be a MCDBA as well. 8 exams and 3 certifications, wow!

Well, that would be my plan if I were in your situation. Too bad I got my MCSE before Microsoft introduced MCSA.

Good luck!

I think the MCSA is a good credential for those who do not need to design networks or Active Directories, just work with the daily basic administration..
