Hi,
On bootup on my 2503 I get a meesage: %SYS-4-CONFIG_NEWER: Configurations from version 12.2 may not be correctly understood.
Any ideas why? On the Cisco site it states:
Explanation "The software has detected that the configuration saved in memory was written by a newer version of software. There might be commands saved in memory that are not implemented by the older software version."
What does it mean "saved in memory", which memory?- the NVRAM I guess. Am I right in assuming that a command in the NVRAM is not supported by the IOS? The culprit command is:
ip kerberos source-interface any
However ip kerberos is supported by my IOS (I guess so because I can access ip kerberos commands in the config mode), so I am not sure why the command is not supported. Any feedback would be appreciated.....

Hi Retired
The Cisco page said more or less the same- it has no detrimental effect. I would just like to know why, that's all.
Cheers for the input,
Wavy

Would you post the boot sequence? I've seen stuff like that happen when a boot loader trys to parse the config and encounters something it doesn't support, but I don't know on which platforms it does this. Usually when this happens there will be a line in the boot output that says something to the effect of "The above messages are generated by the boot loader." I'd like to see if this is whats happening.

I hope this is what you wanted.
ip kerberos source-interface any
seems to be the problem, but like I stated before, the command is supported by my IOS.

I've not seen it happen quite like that. I've also not run 12.2 code anywhere yet. As long as it works....
