i'm on my annual visit. stopped studying once i got a+ and network+.

i took voluntary redundancy last year, and kind of regretted not keeping up with the exams and that.

So tell me, what is it that we should do to breathe some life into the place? What kind of resources, information, etc. Do you guys want to blog? You want technical information on hardware, software, what is it you came here for (besides the obviously witty reparte)?

I think one of the first things to do would be getting a handle on the Spam posters.  There are add-ons for newer versions of vBulletin that would help control them.

Another thing would be to address which certifications are still relevant and add new certifications.

I'm not sure about blogging.

More later.

Yeah we are actually reviewing what to do with the forum software. This version is so old you'd almost have to burn it to the ground and start over.  There are other technical issues as well, but that's the main one.

Actually working on setting up new forums for the certs. Most of what is on here is ancient news. Should we just burn the old categories, archive them? I'm all for burning them but, well, who knows how nostalgic the members are Wink

btw the spam posters are top priority. I had set up enforcer with permissions to ban them, but for some reason the system isn't showing that capability. I don't even see it here as an admin, which would really simplify things

I'm still around.

Suggestions:
-Get rid of/control over the Spam.
-Get rid of braindump related content.
-Delete the Public Newgroups forum.
-Delete the Adults only forum.
-Archive the obsolete certification exam forums.
-Give moderators control to delete, edit, hide threads in all forums so they can cover for each other.
-Possibly look into implementing a point warning and reporting system to put misbehaving members 'on vacation' for a period of time or have them banned altogether.

Just some thoughts...
