I plan on taking the net+ mid december. After that I would like to go fiber optic. Is there a cert for that or what do I need to start myself in that direction?

About time, some action on this Forum. I will probably take my Network+ in mid-december too. Levithon has a Fiber Optics Certification. I believe its an All Day class where they teach you how to make up Fiber Optic connections... red

The FOA offers two levels of fiber optic certification: CFOT or Certified Fiber Optic Technician and CFOS or Certified Fiber Optic Specialist. The basic level, CFOT tests for the applicant's level of knowledge of fiber optics in a broad-based exam that covers technology, components, installation and testing.

Bicsi has related cabling certifications, but they dont call it cabling anymore - it's now Infotmation Transport Systems.

Seen that page. Was hoping that I could find a place in WV that I could go to. I don't see nothing listed there for here. Closest I can find is VA. Is there any books that I can buy and maybe do this on my own? and of the choices wich is the best route to go?

FOI (Fiber Optics Installer)
FOT (Fiber Optics Technician)
FOT/OSP (Fiber Optics Technician Outside Plant)
FOD (Fiber Optics Designer)

I had the enjoyable experience of making up Fiber Optic connections in a harness strapped to a spillway of a dam with a 25 mph wind blowing and a blinding sun beating down on me. I've heard people talk of worse conditions making up Fiber Connections.
