In Active Directory when you set up a new domain/roaming profile there are these options in the Profile tab:

Profile path:
Logon script:

Home folder
Connect (drive letter) to home folder.

My question is what is the difference between the profile path:
\\server\users\%username%

and

Home folder:
connect (drive)\\server\users\username ?

HuhHuh

Aren't they the same?

Are is the Profile Path and Logon script exclusively pointing to the users logon script.

Little confused!

Depending on your organizations needs you can set them to the same path or make them different.  You have the ability to make a department's home folders point to the same location so that everyone shares the same files, or set it so everyone has individual home folders.

In a production environment, you could setup the operators systems so that they all share the same mandatory profile from the same profile path.
