Today I learned first-hand what it means to be a citizen of Bloomberg's New York.  I received a parking ticket.  I am guilty of the violation.  The fine is a whopping $105.00.
I prepared a statement expressing my feelings on this matter, but I have been advised by counsel that were I to publish it, I could be liable to prosecution under both federal and local statutes regardless of whether I carry out the content of the statement.  Therefore I will suffice it to say "One term, baby!  One term!!"

Where have you been since July 2002? Cigarettes bounced up a $1.50 a pack city tax to make it a whopping $8 per pack that month as well.

Michael "One Term" Doomsberg with his fire house closings, 18.5% property tax, smoking ban, $105 parking tickets, sales tax hike, etc will be gone soon.

The fact that he sat on his arse while the MTA raised fares to $2 too makes him deserve the boot too.

I know all these things, and I have been very vocally anti-Bloomberg.  Today, it hit home.  I realize that for millions it has already hit home and I feel for them.  I believe, for example, that there should be NO taxes on cigarettes except for the standard sales tax.

Him and moronic Pataki have made cigarettes such a major black market. I can't tell you how many times I am I hear: "Cigarettes, Newport -- Marlboro $5" in one day. All he does is send the money to Westchester, Nassau, New Jersey and let's not forget the internet. Oops, I forgot. They fixed that one. New York is the only state in the union where it's citizens cannot purchase cigarettes online. If you are caught, not only can you be fined and arrested but your UPS, FedEx, whoever is delivering gets arrested too. Nice huh?

Sorry.  I didn't realize that you needed aol to access that page.  Here is the text from the story.

His real name is unknown; his costume and hair are enigmatic. But Angle-Grinder Man is gaining fame as a hero to illegally parked Londoners everywhere. Armed with his "angle grinder" saw and a sense of justice, he secretly removes the security locks placed on offending cars.
As is so often the case, the trickiest part came when he had to explain himself to his family."I got kind of a lukewarm response," said the masked Englishman who calls himself Angle-Grinder Man and who has been trawling London for four months dressed in a homemade superhero outfit, complete with gold lam? underpants and cape, removing the security boots from people's illegally parked cars.

Not where I live. There is no subway and bus service is very limited, kind of like Boston. Wink

Do you really think that whoever replaces him is gonna to bring the prices down?

or

remove any of the smoking laws?

They'll just hike prices on something else and blame him for the prices he raised.
