Wow! I'm suprised you are ready so soon! Did you get to review interoperabiity sections of the networking guide? There will be at least one case with interoperability with SNA or other such network. Best of luck, looking forward to good news soon.

Jeff,

No, I don't read the interoperability sessions from the Internetworking Guide.
I have some interoperability background gained from the field. But, mostly with Netware networks. I reviewed protocol concepts from the Networking Essentials MOC. And prepared myself with Transcenders, but I thought it, somewhat exagerated, a mesh of too much protocols.

By the way, thank you Jeff!

Hi,

I passed! I scored 632... Hmmm too close, but "sometimes it doesn't matter if you win by an inch or a mile. Winning's winning" (from the tfat). Cheesy Kidding.

Thanks guys for the support! Hey, I'm MCSE  now.... whohoooo

Jeff,

221 is definitely the most dificult exam that I did. Very long and complex. 4 case studies and 40 questions. The same way that you said, the exam involved interoperability with other protocols (e.g. SNA and AppleTalK). So, for the candidates for 221 study hard interoperability issues.

DHCP and DNS integration; Windows 2000 integration with WINS, UNIX, MacOS; Subnetting; superscopes; load balancing and clustering concepts; were the highlights.

Hey, Jeff what book do you recommend for CCNA?

P.S. Transcenders don't exagerate in the mesh of protocols.

I used the Cisco Press "Cisco CCNA Exam #640-607 Cerification Guide" I spent cover price of $60 for this one, but it was MORE than adequate for the exam. The first printing of this book came with a CD-Rom exam practice that was really buggy. Since I was a registered owner, they replaced the whole package. On page ii if it says "Printed in the United States of America 1234567890", it is the buggy version, the replacement had the number "4567890"

I had one 1600 router and a couple of simulators to work with. I was able to find Sybex "CCNA Virtual Lab e-trainer" on Amazon which was an excellent simulator, for $30.
