16  Microsoft (MCSE, MCSD, MOUS, MCAD) / 70-215 / study guides on: January 12, 2005, 06:25:00 AM
thanks,

one thing i am strongly against is braindumps and paper certs. I am a believer in working hard to achieve my goal.
17  Microsoft (MCSE, MCSD, MOUS, MCAD) / 70-215 / binaries, subnetmask question! on: January 08, 2005, 06:18:57 PM
this question would be better posted in the 70-216 forum as this not a topic covered for the 70-215 exam.
18  Microsoft (MCSE, MCSD, MOUS, MCAD) / 70-215 / 70-215 study guide on: January 08, 2005, 05:40:43 PM
I would like to know what is the best study guide apart from the microsoft press books that i am using, i have been told that troytech and transcender are good.

My intention is not to substitute MS press with these guides but to use those as well as the books that i have. Any help is appreciated.
19  Other IT certifications / Linux/Unix / Lpi on: December 27, 2004, 03:36:36 PM
here is the scenario,

the company i work for are considering migrating to linux, i have little knowledge about linux but has made me interested about it. I am thinking about getting certified however all the books i see does not state whether the material is official linux. i dont know which distro we will be using the possibilities could be redhat or suse. If anyone can help with this that would be appreciated as i am a novice.
20  Microsoft (MCSE, MCSD, MOUS, MCAD) / 70-215 / Roaming user profiles on: November 17, 2004, 06:38:52 PM
i am trying to understand the process of what happens when a user logs on for the very first time with a user profile configured as roaming. I know that during the configuring customization and setup of an RUP you copy the local and upload to the server from there i assume that the server compares and copies files that are different and new to the local copy on the windows 2000 client.

Am i correct?
21  Microsoft (MCSE, MCSD, MOUS, MCAD) / 70-215 / RAS whitepapers on: October 13, 2004, 03:57:21 PM
i am looking for whitepapers on all aspects of windows features, i am in particular looking for documenattion on RAS. What it does? what equipment required e.t.c

if anyone knows of any links to whitepapers on any feature i would greatly appreciate any information that you can provide.
22  Microsoft (MCSE, MCSD, MOUS, MCAD) / 70-215 / GPO and printing problems on: October 08, 2004, 04:54:41 AM
I am having a few problems on my network all win 2000 clients are on SP4 as well as windows 2000 server, when i log onto the domain i can successfully see the printer and print however when a domain user logs on they get the following error message "no printers are installed. To install a printer point to settings on the windows start menu, click printers and then double click add printer follow the instructions in the wizard"

find below group policy settings that i have configured:

Computer configuration\administrative templates\network\printers
Automatically publish new printers in active directory = enabled
Check published state =enabled (every 30 mins)
Directory pruning priority =enabled (normal)
Directory pruning retry =enabled (6 retries)
Log directory pruning retry events =enabled
Pre-populate printer search location =enabled
Printer browsing =disabled
Prune printers that are automatically republished =enabled (never)
Web based printing =enabled

other other question i have is does Computer configuration overide user configuration in group policy?
23  Microsoft (MCSE, MCSD, MOUS, MCAD) / 70-215 / certificate authority on: October 04, 2004, 07:01:43 PM
I am confused on how this works,

The way i have understood this is that a user attempts to gain access to some some network resource or access to a website and the certificate authority verifys the identity of the user and issues a public key binding into the certificate. The user then attempts to gain access to the file from the internet site by using its private key to decrypt the file to gain access to it.

What i am tring to understand is how does the user obtain this private key?

if anyone has any valuable links i would be much appreciated.

25  Microsoft (MCSE, MCSD, MOUS, MCAD) / 70-215 / study techniques on: September 02, 2004, 08:19:52 AM
which in everyone opinion is the best way via microsoft books or interactive CD rom. I am tempted to purchase a set of Cds for the MCSE curriculum.
26  Microsoft (MCSE, MCSD, MOUS, MCAD) / 70-210 / unattend failure on: July 29, 2004, 02:43:43 PM

27  General discussions / Certifications and IT jobs/Salaries / opportunities abroad on: July 23, 2004, 04:04:18 PM
i have been considering working abroad for the passed 6-12 months due to me having 3 languages behind me (french english and italian). As well as that i am training for MCSE 2000, i currently live in the UK (Birmingham) however from what i see of Birmingham the only opportunities i see are in hospitals schools and public sector in general.

My aim is to work in industry but with almost 3 years experience in the IT field and no certs to my name does notplace me in a strong position.

I have thought about maybe Belgium (Brussels) it seems to have demand for lots of multilingual staff. Whats advice received is greatly appreciated.
