3  General discussions / Certifications and IT jobs/Salaries / career change IT Security to Linux/UNIX on: August 05, 2013, 05:01:30 PM
Hello All,

Im an extremely frustrated IT Security professional looking to switch to Linux/UNIX systems administration/engineering.
My current job is 80% Operational 20% Technical with very limited hands-on and whatever hands-on i get is boring, laborious and repetitive. The reason im doing this job is to become visible with other departments although the UNIX team have downsized meaning that they will not be hiring anyone else in the near future.

I have been looking externally from the current company i work for, i decided to take a career break from May until September in order to do a Linux sys admin course. To my frustration it was canceled because of lack of participants, i asked a company the possibility of doing voluntary work in order to gain experience to my disappointment they want people with skills irrespective of voluntary or paid employment.

September i return to my employer with no new skills and dread returning to this boring position, im contemplating going on long term sick leave in order to do a qualification for a job that i want to do & possible leave the country that i currently live in as it has not done me any good.

Any help or assistance is greatly appreciated during this annoying time.

So if i was to losse a job in the US i would be in a big mess?

Hi everyone,

i have been a member of examnotes site for over 3-4 years now and have been living in belgium for over 1 year now working as part of a helpdesk for a US based company

I am about to start as of next month the MCSE cert for XP/2k3, my question is as follows:

1) how easy would it be for someone who has a language barrier in Belgium to find IT work just in English.

2) I have been contemplating a  move maybe to the US what are the likely chances of me finding It work there, if i was to get a job in the US and lose my job would i receive financial support whilst actively seeking another job?
9  Microsoft (MCSE, MCSD, MOUS, MCAD) / Server 2003 / computer management connection from 2k3 server to XP pro. on: April 27, 2006, 06:37:11 AM
I have an issue connecting via computer management from my 2k3 server to XP Pro everytime i try i get the following error:

"computer // cannot be managed. The network path was not found. Choose conenct to another computer from the action menu to manage a different computer".

This is odd as i was able to join the xp machine to the domain, the dns server is configured to point to the 2k3 server DNS, the Xp client client doesnt have any service packs its logged onto the domain the computer object is in ADS is there something that i might be doing wrong or may have missed out? i cant figure this one out.

13  General discussions / General Discussion / work paper trails on: September 25, 2005, 10:27:04 AM
i wanted to find peoples opinions on this issue, if problems arise at work is the paper trail approach effective, say you find yourself in a situation where you feel you are treated unfairly or you have been bullied at work.

would be interested on peoples opinions on this issue.
