1  Microsoft (MCSE, MCSD, MOUS, MCAD) / 70-227 / A Fair Exam on: August 12, 2003, 04:30:18 AM
I passed this exam yesterday to complete my MCSE and found it to be a very fair exam. As opposed to other exams I have done this focused on a narrower subject matter. I also find ISA not that difficult to configure as it doesnt have a lot of depth to it and this is reflected in the exam where a lot of questions were similar to others that were asked.

Overall if you know ISA and have had a play with it (not just read a book) then this exam is not that difficult.

Good luck to whoever is looking to sit this.

2  Microsoft (MCSE, MCSD, MOUS, MCAD) / 70-219 / Another One Shot Down on: April 30, 2003, 01:34:40 AM
Passed the exam today with 842. 39 questions 6 being build a tree type.

Found that the scenarios weren't very clear and required some thinking to work out what they were actually requiring. Some DNS questions only seemed to be referred to in a couple of sentences in the scenario. Overall not too bad. Helps to know things like when you would use a 2nd forest or domain.

Now time to get married and have a holiday then start on ISA server to finish MCSE off.

Chapters 9 and 10 of the Deployment Planning Guide are a must. I'm studying for this exam as well and have found those very good value in understanding the material.
Transcenders and MS Press Exam Press are helping put the final touches on it for me.
Hopefully next week or Tuesday after Easter and I can chalk up success in this one.

Thanx Djalminha

I have read chapter 9 and half of 10 so far and aim to read both of them 2-3 times. I have the MSPress readiness review book as well so it looks like I should be fine.

The scary thing is I'm actually finding the information and case studies interesting Smiley

Djalminha

How did you find the Transcenders in relation to the exam, relatively similar in style? I was caught a bit unawares on one exam when the Transcenders were nothing like the exam whereas others have been similar in style. Don't particularly want to get a surprise when I get in there.

I am going to be studying for this exam soon and was wondering if there is any particular book that people would recommend?

Thanx all.

Looking at either doing 219 or 227 (Isa Server) to finish off the MCSE. Probably go with 219 as it follows on from some of the work with 217 although 227 is more pertinent for work atm.

Just passed the exam.

Seem to have a heavy emphasis on DNS with not much RIS stuff. A lot of the questions required multi selections as answers, some saying the number of answers required and others just saying select all that apply.

Special thanks to Deja-vue for posting the questions each day.

Good luck to everyone else looking to take the exam. If you know you're stuff it's not that difficult.
