1  Microsoft (MCSE, MCSD, MOUS, MCAD) / 70-210 / Passed yesterday on: May 08, 2002, 02:02:04 PM
Scored a 980 ..... so i'm happy !

I used alot of stuff to study for it, besides 4 years working experiance in IT.

I would recommend the MS Press book and Exam Cram as enough for this exam, besides the obvious hands on.

Anyways....onto 70-215 !!!
2  CompTIA / Network+ / Should I be dreading this? on: November 15, 2001, 04:25:50 PM
Which book did you buy ?

Well if you don't have much experiance/knowledge, then the best thing for you is a big book which explains everything ! Don't be afraid of overkill in your situation, you will benefit from it.

The exam is "entry" level, so you will be just find if you study hard and get in some practice.

I recommend Exam Drill if you want some good exam practice.

Good luck

Hey man don't stress...

I took the exam today and scored 875.

I used Mike Meyers books ... which i read through and made notes quite a few times. I used the practice exams on the cd which helped with the studying of the book.

I also used Exam Drill which is your only answer, go order it now ! Its the closest thing to the exam. I was scoring 97% on it...and if you divide 875/900 you get 97% ... so hey =)

Don't worry about Cert21 and all the other crap...its nowhere near the Network+ exam.

Just concentrate on Mike Meyes and Exam will be fine.

Good luck
6  CompTIA / Network+ / Passed !!!!! .....and some advice on: November 14, 2001, 01:38:04 PM
I scored 875 today, took me 30min.

I used Mike Myers All-in-book which is great for the exam. I also used Exam Drill which is a definate ! It helps big time. Thats all i recommend you use. I also had 4 years experiance in the IT field which helped even more.

I also had the sybex book by David Groth (1st edition), it has alot more material and coverage than the Mike Myers book, but is overkill for the exam. It just crowded my mind .... so i would recommend Mike Myers and Exam Drill to everyone who wants to take this exam.

If anyybody needs any help or has questions, just let me know =).

Onto Server+ and MCSA .... cya there guys !

8  General discussions / General Discussion / Well....... on: November 06, 2001, 04:19:37 PM
Yes i am 23. a 2 year "working" visa doesn't allow you to pursue a career/full time job unfortunately Sad

Well everyone stipulates an MCSE for job requirements, then when you get to the interview they more worried about experiance than anything else, since just about every 2nd school leaver here is doing mcse or has it.

i am lucky in that i have experiance right from building pcs and all the shit that goes with it to administration on an NT4/2000 network and exchange server as well. but still, out of a job !

from beginning of next year, if your skin isn't a dark colour, you haven't got a chance as the government enforces the affirmative action(apartheid in reverse) law.

i don't want to put you off....but just about every one of my IT connections is leaving for some country overseas.

hey maybe you will get a job within a week, just giving you the general idea whats going on.

also Siltek , the 2nd biggest distributer in our country has closed down , and so has compu-comp, another big distributer.

so as you can see ..... the global IT slow down is here to, in a big way.

Everybody is trying to leave, and you want to return ? lol....dont your family and friends talk to you about it ?

I have four years experiance in IT and i am currently i'm just studying at the moment. Good luck to you if you want to try and find a job here .......
