I thought it was very good!
3  General discussions / Book Reviews / For Dummies Series on: August 19, 2000, 01:52:00 AM
I passed my MS IIS 4 with Dummies.

To the point, understandable, lotus screen cams with audio to explain the actions on the CD. Lots of screen shots in the book. A1

5 star.

4  Microsoft (MCSE, MCSD, MOUS, MCAD) / SQL server exams / Learn MS Access first, then move on to SQL on: January 02, 2001, 11:55:00 PM
I can't agree more!

I worked with Access alittle before having a SQL server dumped on my desk, and i find simple admin just fine.  But with out a strong 'base' (pun, i know) of database knowleadge SQL exams are giving me a headache, they stand between me and +I and my goal of learning the dam thing for work and MCDBA that i would like to grace my wall.

Also really mess around with the Access Northwind, etc, stuff 'cos it's in here like a friend in SQL 7.

Given a chance I would forget about SQL and spend more time with Access, but life is never that way! ( well mine isn't)

Good Luck,
'cos i'll need it!

6  Microsoft (MCSE, MCSD, MOUS, MCAD) / SQL server exams / Passed SQL 7 Admin! on: February 06, 2001, 09:24:00 PM
At Last, passed SQL 7 Admin, 780! (680 to pass).  Now get to add +I just as MS kill it off, dam!

Never mind, that is life.
Used:
* Exam prep, which is v good.
The MS press self study which i did not enjoy but some people do.  That said I can see it being a good desktop ref.  book for me.
* Transcenders, which i seem to be using more & more, in fact so much so I have just purchased the whole 2000 track.  Which is pushing the boat out for me 'cos I like the word 'free' (or copied).  But if you keep using the software it is always time to buy!
* Troy-Tech, which is good, but unless u are very lucky you will be asking for the money back part of the deal, because this will not make you pass 1st time!
* Cramsession, quite a good one too.
* The product!

Good Luck

8  Microsoft (MCSE, MCSD, MOUS, MCAD) / SQL server exams / IIS or Admin SQl Server on: August 26, 2000, 12:06:00 AM
Personally I would go for SQL.

IIS 4 is now so close to being killed, and to be honest I think SQL is more value.  Esp since u are using it already

9  Microsoft (MCSE, MCSD, MOUS, MCAD) / SQL server exams / Win98 or NT4 Workstation on: June 10, 2000, 12:45:00 AM
Er, NT, NT & NT

But you are right win98 certs are going to be around longer!

Are u thinking of fast tracking to win2k?
Or just wanting to rise above the crowd alittle with an MCP?
Resources are limited to say the least on the win98 side for dumps, book recomm, craked tests, free info etc etc.
There is loads on NT Ws.

So really what i am saying is look at where u need to go with it.  Win98 is not a part of the win2k track at the mo. and its harder, in my veiw.  But if MCP is your lot then do win98, and then go for 2k server!
Best of luck!!!

13  Microsoft (MCSE, MCSD, MOUS, MCAD) / 70-079/70-080 / Passed IEAK5 - 755! on: January 15, 2001, 08:04:00 PM
Passed IEAK5 today with 755 ( passing score 673)

1st off you are going to need the time, and you are wise to double check the answers you have given, because i know i changed 5 to 6 answers from just re-reading the question and thinking "oh, so that's what you mean!".

To study I used IEAK5 MCSE Study system by Sullivan which is a good book but very sadly has errors in it, Exam Cram which I thought was excellent and the Troy Tech study guide.

Also mess around with the Admin Kit!

Good Luck!

14  Microsoft (MCSE, MCSD, MOUS, MCAD) / 70-079/70-080 / You guys doing IE4 or 5? on: January 15, 2001, 11:44:00 PM
there is more than enough to pass IEAK5 in print or online, do 5!! 3+ books, transcenders, troy tech study guide, MS free online course (well download and run locally)

Even if updates or time are not an issue why study and learn something you will never use?

Good Luck
