2  General discussions / General Discussion / Who's all still here? on: March 06, 2009, 11:35:57 AM
I'm still around.

Suggestions:
-Get rid of/control over the Spam.
-Get rid of braindump related content.
-Delete the Public Newgroups forum.
-Delete the Adults only forum.
-Archive the obsolete certification exam forums.
-Give moderators control to delete, edit, hide threads in all forums so they can cover for each other.
-Possibly look into implementing a point warning and reporting system to put misbehaving members 'on vacation' for a period of time or have them banned altogether.

Just some thoughts...

Double check your jumper on the "slave" drive.  Also check to make sure the jumper on the first/master drive is set to master and not single.

Double check your cables.

If you are still having problems, test it out as a master/single on the secondary IDE channel.

If still having problems, the drive may be dead.

Take your time, double check your work, procedurally eliminate the variables that could be causing the problem.

HTH.

Hi Tahoon,

I hate to admit it but I've given up on this site ever getting back to what is was.  It was neglected for quite some time and turned into nothing more than a spammers site.  It seems the spamming is somewhat under control now but it's sad that the only consistenly active posts are off-topic stuff and a couple of adolesent nit-wits in the adults only forum

The only decent certification sites around now are techexams.net (which is excellent) and icertify.net.  Most of the old examnotes gang hangs out at Freak's icertify.net site.

If you still have my personal email address, you can always contact me directly with technical questions.

Take Care

If they give the mods some more power the place might be cleaned up more often. Wink

I'm doing alright.  Still working in the industry and making a good chunk of change.  No complaints.

Hi everyone.  Hope everyone is doing well.  As for the "rebirth" of this site, we'll see what happens.  Good to see some familiar people posting again.

Right click on the top of the command window, select defaults, click on Font tab to select a bigger font (which will increase the windows size) or click on the layout tab and increase the window size. Change your default cmd prompt window colors if you'd like as well.

Close out of the window and then open one back up to see your changes.

Create a Linux bootdisk and blank out the local Administator password, then log into the workstation with the local Administrator account.

Go here:
http://home.eunet.no/~pnordahl/ntpasswd/bootdisk.html

Read the article on how to do it and then download the zip file to create the disk (they are at the bottom of the page).  Works like a champ.

I agree with Redstar.  HDs are mechanical devices which can fail like any other.  Based on the information you posted, I'd replace the drive.

Just my .02
