1  Microsoft (MCSE, MCSD, MOUS, MCAD) / 70-240 / Can it be true? on: October 10, 2001, 11:52:36 PM
Did MS really change their policy?  I just got an email that stated the following:
~~~~~~
The biggest bombshell: MCSEs certified on the Windows NT 4.0
track will NOT be de-certified after December 31, 2001, as was
previously indicated. Instead, Microsoft is going to recognize
two distinct MCSE categories: "MCSEs on Microsoft Windows 2000"
and "MCSEs on Windows NT 4.0".
~~~~~~~

Not that I wasn't going to go for the 240, and it DOES still have to be done by 12/31/01 if at all, yet it's an immense curiosity....If anyone knows, please pass along any and all info...

AndyC, where are you??

Peter:

Received your email asking the same thing.  I'm terribly sorry, but seeing as I paid the money for the transcenders out of my own pocket, I do not feel like simply giving them away to someone else.  Even if my company DID pay for any of my certification, I would not do that to Transcender.  I have paid for everything involving my certification, right out of my own pocket, but that's not even the case here.

Transcender wouldn't have a business to run, nor would TroyTech, if one person purchased them and then sent their products out for free.

I do not think that this is the appropriate place to be asking for this material.  I do not think that any of us here who value our certification (or the study materials we paid for to get us there) would/should be sending them out for free to anyone who asks.
Besides the fact, it's illegal!!

This is not the first time I've received an email like this.  You want assistance with WHAT to study, fine.  Ask away, and I'm sure any of us who can help will help.  We're a good bunch of people.  Ask us to GIVE you our study material?  Forget it.

4  Microsoft (MCSE, MCSD, MOUS, MCAD) / 70-240 / Sybex?? on: August 14, 2001, 03:50:31 PM
I read something today that scared me, that only 8-10% of people who take this pass it.  Could this be for real?  I forget where I read it though, might have quite possibly been on one of these threads for another exam.  Not sure.

I'd appreciate ANYTHING you have to offer, AndyC!!  This exam, I feel, is going to be a bugger.  Just ordered the Core Requirements set from Sybex.  It worked for me before, I have a good feeling that with some solid work it'll work for me again.  Hey, if I can pass IEAK with 2 days studying and a Sybex book....

For the record, I did, thanks to AndyC's recommendation, and I passed.

Take his advice.  SERIOUSLY!!  It will do you a world of good.

Today is August 14, and I just happened to come across this post today.

Did you take it??

Sybex rock and rolled for me for my Exchange exam.  I'm seriously starting to think about studying for 240 now, as it is a month ago today that I became NT 4.0 MCSE.

I have found a box set from Sybex that covers the core 4, but I've heard that you should know all of that info anyway to pass 240.  I'm just nervous about TOO much information.

Any thoughts?  Should I purchase the set, or should I go for something that will prepare me for 240?  My only hesitation in the latter is that if I DON'T pas 240, I'll have to take the requirements anyway.

Hmmmmmmmm:confused:

SHOUTING!!  Smiley  You know, I wasn't even going to think about doing 240, but after finishing my 6th exam, I just have this really strange urge to go onward and upward.

Seriously, I'd appreciate any help you could offer, I don't even know where to start.

Do you think we should take this to emails?

Thanks!!

Thanks much.  I used Transcender Transcender Transcender.  I had the Brainbuzz Cramsession, Troytec, Exam Cram IEAK5 book, and the IDG published book.  VERY much information, but I heard really good things about Transcender so figured that was the way to go!

I scored 816 out of a needed 673.  Onwards and upwards to Exam 240!!  Smiley

Hmmmm, well, correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't IIS 4.0 retire with the rest of them back in December?  I could be completely off the mark here, as it wasn't one that I'd planned to take, I just thought...

I'm taking IEAK5, and using my week and a half long business trip to study like crazy for it.

Just studying.  I took the class a while back, and it was only recently that I bunkered down with a book and really learned it.  Yes, yes I am going to be a paper MCSE, but if it makes you feel better...

No, I haven't been working with Exchange at all, and still passed.
