Awesome job, quite an accomplishment! You should be very proud!
3  Cisco / CCNA / upper and lower layers on: June 21, 2003, 06:43:26 PM
Routing protocols build routing tables. Examples are RIP, OSPF, BGP, IGRP, EIGRP, etc. Routed protocols direct traffic. Examples are IP, IPX, and AppleTalk.

The upper-layer IP protocols like DHCP and SMTP aren't classified as routing protocols, but rather are considered application layer protocols. (Whoa, now that i've typed that, i'm not positive that DHCP works at the application layer!??)

As always, there is great info available on cisco's Web site...

Good work Dracul!

What's next for you?

If you should have a scenario where you have to set the clock rate, it should tell you what to set it at. (If not, I would recommend 56000)
Also, don't get clock rate and bandwidth confused!

It just depends on the luck of the draw! I've heard of as many as 5, and as few as 2.
Just be prepared for anything!
7  Cisco / CCNA / Any recommendation on this book please? on: June 16, 2003, 05:28:30 PM
The Odom text is good, but very heavy! It's not a bad read, but does tend to be quite technical. If you want to stick with Cisco Press, you might want to try the ICND book.

Good luck!

Congrats! Good job!
9  Cisco / CCNA / some advice on: June 16, 2003, 05:20:08 PM
Don't let a miss get you down. I would advise a couple of things. First, take the time during the survey period at the beginning of the exam to write down your subnet ranges, powers of two, etc. If you don't understand subnetting inside and out, you aren't going to pass this exam. Be prepared for any type of subnetting question. I've seen some great QOD's on subnetting on this forum.
Second, you know what gave you trouble on the exam. Make sure you get a good text or use Web resources (try to get a better grip on these concepts.

Good luck!
10  Cisco / CCNA / new objectives ? on: May 27, 2003, 09:17:27 PM
Don't forget NAT and PAT too. I think the concepts will be fair game on the 707, but probably not the config steps . I doubt that VLSM will be there, except in theory.
11  Cisco / CCNA / I passed thank you all on: May 27, 2003, 05:38:27 PM
Congrats, and good luck on the rest of your MCSE!
12  Cisco / CCNA / Absolutely...but... on: May 27, 2003, 05:32:23 PM

Thanks for coming to my defense Anchor!

13  Cisco / CCNA / new objectives ? on: May 23, 2003, 07:22:39 PM
I'm really not sure when the 607 will be retired, but my best guess would be mid-November.
The objectives won't change that much, just the types of questions asked! (Please don't ask for any more details!!)

14  Cisco / CCNA / Congrats! on: May 23, 2003, 09:07:36 AM
Way to go Lexy! Somehow, I had no doubt you could do it!
15  Cisco / CCNA / Unless... on: May 22, 2003, 05:03:49 PM have a valid CCO account to access the software download section of Cisco's Web site!

Another warning, unless you have enough Flash, your 2502 may not have enough room to hold an upgraded IOS image. Make sure you do a "show ver" before attempting any upgrade!
