1  General discussions / Programming Forum / Exam Software for Content Developers on: November 16, 2017, 11:56:54 PM
Any one had experience with using third party exam software for authoring and delivering exams? Check out the software given below, developed using Visual Studio 2015:

Author software: http://www.swregn.com/Products/Author_module.html
The author software is used by the author for populating the database with required information, like questions and answers, student/candidate profiles, classes, etc. The data is then exported programmatically to the exam engine.

Exam Engine: http://www.swregn.com/Products/Exam_Engine.html
The Exam engine is used to deliver the exam to the students/candidates. Several options are available to customize the experience, including while label and private labeling. Important features include study and exam modes, review and bookmarking, flash card explanations, and detailed stats.

3  General discussions / General Discussion / Re: Microsoft Windows 10 .. Will it be a success like it's predecessor Windows 7? on: October 20, 2017, 09:36:32 PM
Unplug it from the internet.

One way you are correct. Windows 10 looks more like sales platform for Microsoft with its tracking of user (like Google, which is already doing it for serving appropriate ads, in other words, to monetize).

There is also Cartana or something which i usually disable, that tracks your usage so that it could help you with things (thats what MS says) Check this out: http://certforumz.com/index.php/topic,1295.0.html

9  Cisco / CCNA / Re: Differences between Old (200-120) and New (200-125) CCNA topics on: October 12, 2016, 01:15:25 AM
The major differences are:
1. OSPFv3 (for IPv6) multi-area has been added.
2. ACL using IPv6 has been added
3. LLDP has been added
4. RIPv2 which had been discontinued in earlier revision has been reintroduced.
5. eBGP configuration has been added.

It is by no means exhaustive. Check out the official site for latest exam topics.

11  Cisco / CCNA / Cisco Releases New CCNA 200-125 Version 3 on: October 03, 2016, 06:57:43 AM
As you might be aware, the old CCNA (200-120) 2013 (version 2) has retired effective from 20th September.
The new exam is 200-125, CCNA Version 3.

There are some notable changes from the old CCNA, including removal of Frame Relay and inclusion of RIP v2. Note that RIP v2 was removed from 200-120, and has been reintroduced in the latest version, a welcome move.

There is more coverage on Cloud concepts, and wireless controllers.

Overall, there is not much of a change as far as the core Routing and Switching are concerned. Peripheral topics such as Cloud, Wireless, and a few others have been added. As they are not in depth, it is not going to take much time to prepare if you are going to recertify.

The objectives may be viewed at the official page here:
http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/training-events/training-certifications/certifications/associate/ccna-routing-switching.html

For exam info., and practice tests, you may check the link below:
http://www.certexams.com/cisco/ccna/exam-details.htm

Basic concepts on hierarchical networking architecture and collapsed core design have been included in the new CCNA from conceptual point of view.

Of course, the constituent exams have also been updated as below:
CCENT
Old exam number: 100-101
Net exam number: 100-105

ICND2

15  CompTIA / A+ forum / CompTIA Released New A+ Stream of Exams, 220-901 and 220-902! on: January 27, 2016, 04:21:08 AM
CompTIA has recently released new A+ exams,

220-901 A+ Essentials and
220-902 A+ Practical Application

The exams were released on 15th Dec 2015, and are now available for candidates across the test centers in English language. Other languages are going to be released over the due course of time.

Check out the official CompTIA website for more information:
https://certification.comptia.org/certifications/a#examdetails

Though most of the topics are same as that of previous version, the first impressions are as below:
1. XP has been retired, no more questions on XP OS
2. Expect Windows 7,8,8.1 based questions
3. Windows 10 is not covered explicitly in the syllabus, however, it is better to have some working knowledge on the same.
4. Device security, particularly mobile devices security is included
5. Topics on iPhone, and Linux OSes has been included (prilimimary CLI - type commands). As you might be knowing, Android topics had been already covered in the previous version, and the same have been retained or expanded.
6. Network topologies seems to have become obsolete, particularly, Star, Mesh, and Ring topologies.

The current exams 220-801 and 220-802 are going to retire by June 2016. If you already passed one exam (say 220-801, you need to pass the other by June 2016. You can't mix the streams. i.e. you can't take 220-801, and 220-902, etc.

All the best!
