1  Cisco / CCNP / Simulation Software on: October 27, 2005, 01:30:24 PM
What routersim software is the best?  I've used the sybex CCNA Virtual Lab and I've played with routersim.  Sybex gets some bad reviews for command support, access list, and NAT.  I just want to have everything I need for the CCNP and get my money's worth.

Yeah, I still have another year left before my recertification date.  I've just really been into Cisco since I was in school and never really got a chance to work with it extensively until now.  This job is a refresher and a goal.

Thanks.  That helps a lot.  So how are the exams?  Are they easier after taking the CCNA?  And do you recommend I take the BCSI exam first or BCMSN?

I just recently got a new job where my main job will be working with Cisco routers and switches.  Since I will be getting all this experience, I've decided to pursue my CCNP while employed here.  I think that the reading for the routing and switching test would be very interesting and helpful since it's been a while since I've played with a router or taken the CCNA test.  I've heard that the Sybex books are not too good for the CCNP tests so if anyone out there who has taken the test has some recommendations for books it would appreciated.
5  Microsoft (MCSE, MCSD, MOUS, MCAD) / 70-222 / Passed on: August 21, 2005, 11:02:19 AM
No one replied so I just reviewed what I had read and passed it first try.  It was pretty easy after taking 219 before it.  I'm happy now because I'm an MCSE.

To respond to WPFossil's negative reply I was talking about learning not certification.  I know for a fact certs don't mean anything unless you know your stuff.  I want advice on what skills I can pick up to help me later.
7  General discussions / General Discussion / Online Degrees Worth it or Waste of time on: August 21, 2005, 10:43:05 AM
Just wanted some more advice.  I have an AAS Degree and I think not having a BS is holding back my career.  I wanna go back to school, but it's kinda of expensive.  I'm thinking about some of these online colleges, but I think that a lot of employers may frown on online degrees.  If there are any managers, employers, or anybody with an online degree, I want to know what you think and to those with one was it worth your time and money?  NO SPAM PLEASE.
8  CompTIA / Security+ / Books and Study Guides on: August 21, 2005, 09:51:25 AM
I'm thinking about taking the exam, but I need a recommendation for a good book to read and a good.  I have the Sybex book and I see a lot of people in the forums talking about "tcats" which I've never heard of.  Just wanna know if it's worth it and do I need it.  Oh and NO SPAMMERS PLEASE.

I've finally finished my MCSE.  I plan on upgrading it to 2003, but after that I'm not sure what I want to do.  I'm Network Analyst II for a public school system and work with a variety of things, but my main focus is Microsoft and Cisco.  Any suggestions on where to go with my career?
10  Microsoft (MCSE, MCSD, MOUS, MCAD) / 70-222 / 70-222 on: May 31, 2005, 06:44:21 PM
This is the last exam I need for my MCSE and from what I've been reading it seems quite similar to the AD design exam.  If anyone has taken the exam recently, how is it?
11  Microsoft (MCSE, MCSD, MOUS, MCAD) / Exchange server 2000 / Exchange for beginners on: April 29, 2004, 10:01:53 AM
I'm not looking to get certified in Exchange, but I would like to read and learn about it on my own.  Could someone please suggest a good book for someone just starting out with Exchange.

13  Microsoft (MCSE, MCSD, MOUS, MCAD) / 70-219 / 70-219 on: March 25, 2004, 10:50:54 AM
Ok I've been searching the web and I can't find any accurate information about the 70-219 exam.  Does anyone know what the passing score is, the type of format for the exam, and any useful study materials.  I just passed 70-217(Active Directory) and would like to make this my next exam.  I want to take it in about 2 weeks.

15  Cisco / CCNA / Need help and advice on: August 01, 2003, 01:19:47 AM
Took the test today and missed it by 53 points.I did the worst in switching and I think network management.  Everything else I had at least 75%.  I didn't have thing about IPX at all.  The sims that I had were pretty easy just slow.  Anybody know of any books that explain WAN services and switching in plain english or any other advice on the test to help me get that 849 before Sept 30?
