1  Other IT certifications / CWNP / Another CWNA is made! on: July 11, 2004, 04:36:16 PM
Congrads.
2  Other IT certifications / CISSP / cissp prep. on: July 05, 2004, 08:44:43 PM
The wonderful thing about the CISSP exam is that the organization that sponsor's this certification (ISC)2, goes to great measures to maintain the value of this certification by constantly seeding the question pool with new questions.  Too bad other certification vendors (Microsoft, et al.) don't follow (ISC)2's lead.  Then we wouldn't be having these discussions on braindumps.

My suggestion is that you utilize http://www.cccure.org.  This site is wonderful.  No braindumps.  Just a ton of information, most of which is helpful.

Kindest regards,

I have not received my copy of the magazine yet.  You can assess the article online at:

I concur in Bill's recommendation.  Check out your local community college.  Here in California we have a number of colleges (including mine) that run great instructor led programs at a fraction of the cost you will pay at a CTEC.  Added benefits include academic credit and software via Microsoft's Academic Alliance program.

Wanted to give all of you a "heads-up" on an article I wrote that will be appearing in next month's Certification Magazine [the printed version but I suspect it will also be on their website at http://www.certmag.com].  I highlight "Wireless LAN Security Certifications."  Watch for it.  I think it does a pretty good job explaining the available certifications out there.

I'd agree, but with the explosion of wireless networks, I'd be looking at the wireless certifications offered in the CWNP program.  Not so much for the certifications, but because of the background knowledge you gain in both wireless and security preparing for the CWNA and CWSP exams.

Steve

9  Other IT certifications / CWNP / New CWAP certification announced on: March 15, 2004, 01:46:34 PM
Who is teaching the Beta class?  April is a little early for me.  I'm looking to finish up the CWSP (take the class and the exam) in June and then tackle this certification.

Steve
10  Microsoft (MCSE, MCSD, MOUS, MCAD) / Server 2003 / Which one is the easiest Mcse2003 exam..... (from other forum) on: March 15, 2004, 01:42:43 PM
The 70-210 is not equal to the 70-290.  The 70-210 is the Windows 2000 Pro exam.  Focuses on the workstation product.  The 70-290 is the first in a series of core exams that focuses on Windows 2003 server.  It is not easy.....

The counterpart for the 70-210 exam is the 70-270 exam for Windows XP Pro.
11  Other IT certifications / CWNP / Anybody got Job on basis of cwna certification? on: March 08, 2004, 01:48:30 AM
I am not so sure whether the certification makes the difference, but I do know that the knowledge associated with studying for the CWNA certification has value.  I also know that I'm getting requests to teach a wireless class, but because of the red tape associated with getting curriculum committee approval, we won't be offering it until this summer.  Between now and then I need to both take a CWSP course and pass the exam so I can qualify as a certified trainer to teach both the CWNA and CWSP classes.

Only thing I am aware of is there is an attempt to require those working in a low voltage environment to be licensed.  At this point I think it is just an attempt, lead by the labor unions.  I'll research it a bit and see what I can find out and respond here later.

Steve

Ok, I've got an article up on Certification Magazine's website (http://www.certmag.com). It is in the "web only content" area. It is on HTI+ certification. Read it and give me your thoughts?

Steve
