1  General discussions / IT career women / Lets start hearing from you IT Women on: February 21, 2008, 02:37:15 PM
Come on lets start this thread by talking about what we do and how we are getting on. What exams we are still taken and start sharing ideas with each other. My name is Fiona and I'm a Computer Technician. I so love computers and fixing them. I'm Certified MCSA and A+ Hardware, currently trying to take the A+ Software. I also have a Diploma in Business Computing and I have fixed about 110 computers and set up networks. But since I started messing about with excel I'm hooked on wanting to get to know more and more about it. Love to get this Thread going so we can help each other on levels,  so come on, love to hear your stories and questions

Well I took my 70-210 test this morning and I failed. I was really quite surprised that I had failed. The exam really took me by surprise. Not at the difficulty of the exam, just the information that I was asked. My exam had no and I mean no NTFS permissions or share permission questions.

Really sorry to hear about you failing, yes most questions on share and ntfs you will find in the 215 exam. They really want you to cover all the 210, 215,218 before you take the exams, and then take them all together. Even in the 215 exam there is question for the managing a windows 2000 network environment 218 questions. Do some practise tests for the 210 and c how you go, best of luck next time.

I think you be fine. Thats what i done. I studyed books and did a few practise exams and passed 210 and 215. Just keep studying and know what it all means and you be fine.

Good luck with it.

I guess the third time was the right time for me to pass! I did and I feel so great about it. I know there are probably harder ones before me, but I will pass them all! And for future reference, if you don't know what to say (you know who you are) don't say  anything at all.

Congratulations, Good on you. You must be so happy with your self, there not easy and when you pass your on top of the world.

Contratrate on one exam at a time and never mind about peoples comments on how easy or hard they are. You be fine.

One at a time.

I have known of others that get bogged down on an "Easy" test and then come through the "harder" ones with ease.

It all depends on what are YOUR Strengths and YOur Weaknesses.

To me one is finding a false sense of security to a test others deem "Easy."

Those "easy" test I have more trouble on then the "Hard" tests.

I totally agreed with you. What do people mean when they say EASY TESTS, gosh the books I had to go through to pass the 215 were unbelieveable.  I would love them to be easy and then I can get rid of the bags under my eyes and the lovly fresh skin I used to have before all this studying and test taking.

I found it to be a fair exam; it wasn't easy and it wasn't that difficult either. The way I prepared was through lots of hands-on practice using the software. If you don't have it at work then set up a 2K home network and play with the product until you're very familiar with the various consoles and functions. You should have practiced enough times where you can perform a function in your dreams.

I used the W2K server res kit and read the sections pertinent to the  exam objectives (or use MS's online server res kit). I also used Sybex study guide. Last I did lots of practice exams with Transcender prior to the real one. I find Transcender for the 215 exam to be a very useful study guide.

Just study harder and stay focus on passing that test. You know you can do it. Good luck on your next attempt.

Yes this is very good advice. I also used the transenders and set up a few computers with the software. I could not say that its a easy exam as I dont think thats fair on anyone. We all learn at differant paces. And win2000 is very tricky sometimes. They actually make it harder sometimes in the books than actually doing it hands on.

Best of luck. 3 time lucky.

Get up and Go, and if it doest work out at least thats one less thing you have to worry about. You've been through harder things in the last while than win2000 stuff. So give it a go and we all wish you the best of luck.

Well drinkers may rarely go bald but they do end up with hugh beer bellies yekkk.

Anyway back here in Ireland some of the men have a habit of calling us women Young Ones.
Can you believe that mmm.

well I know brain dumps are bad, as you can see by my reply last time I did stress not to just study them.

I worked hard for my certs and never went into the braindumps but with the hassoni braindump I was just saying that you get good answers to why the answer is the answer and why its not the answer.

I totally disagree with the braindumps as you would of guessed if you read my reply properly.

Thats very good of you to offer your network to people. It is very hard to get hands on experiance. Im from Ireland and you dont get much time at college to gain experiance. You just end up learning alot of theory and hope some company will give you experiance after you finish the courses.

Hope all  goes well.
13  Microsoft (MCSE, MCSD, MOUS, MCAD) / 70-210 / 210 on: December 13, 2002, 07:17:18 AM
Well I got the microsoft windows 2000 professional and networking essentials book and Implementing win2000pro and server. I really studied these and went over some transcenders. There was also a braindump for 210 mcsebriandumps called hassoni, and when i took the exam it was word to word that hassoni put up.

But like all things never learn off what these dumps are putting on because even if they are word to word What are you learning? NOTHING. There is also a book called Windows 2000 jumpstart which is pretty good, I would go for win2000 and not xp. Good luck with the exam, and make sure you understand what you are doing.
