1  Microsoft (MCSE, MCSD, MOUS, MCAD) / MCDST / Finished MCDST on: July 06, 2005, 02:20:32 PM
Well after failing last week, I used my free retest and scored a 972 today. I found 272 harder than 271. Materials used were Exam Cram and work experience.

Lesson learned after zipping thru 271, my study habits declined on 272. The failure brought me back to reality and the payoff was the high score on the retest.

Passed 70-271 this morning with a 915. I used the Exam Cram and the MS Press. Fairly straight forward. Now I will start looking at 272 to finish the MCDST.

5  CompTIA / Network+ / WooHoo!! I passed!! on: May 07, 2004, 11:16:17 AM
Took the Network exam this morning... Passed with a score of 780. The materials I used were Comptia Network Self Study guide, and the Passport book by myers. It took about 25 minutes for the exam. Not quite as difficult as I had imagined, but not a pushover either.

Not quite sure what to go after next...suggestions??

10  CompTIA / A+ forum / Passed!! on: October 07, 2002, 10:26:59 AM
Well after a very disappointing failure on the OS test last week, I managed to pass this morning and I am now A+ Certified!!
I now have a new found respect for the certification.......people dont realize that the exams.....especially the OS can be very difficult.

Thinking you might be ready and knowing you are ready are two different things. A valuable lesson learned with my first test.

I really have not been much of a poster on the forum, more of a sponge just soaking the info in, but the forum has definitely had a positive impact on the whole experience, and I just wanted to say thanks.

Thanks for all the help.....now onward to network!

12  CompTIA / A+ forum / Passed Core!! on: July 24, 2002, 07:08:52 AM
Well I passed the Core yesterday......a bit harder than I imagined, or maybe I was just a bit over cofident, but at any rate I'm glad to have it over. I used the Windows Dummies book and the Crayton book (The Crayton book was a much better resource).

Feeling pretty good and hope to do the OS in about 2-3 weeks.

Thanks!

In response to-

"Dutch, congrats on your pass and great scores...be careful about disclosing test questions....remember that little disclosure you signed today?"

I'm not exactly sure how asking if the crayton cd compared to the test could be interpeted as a test disclosure. Perhaps I should say do you feel the Crayton book and cd prepared you adequately enough.

At any rate I will know soon enough.

Thanks

Hey!!! someone else with the Crayton book.

Did you find the test very similiar to the Crayton cd test?
15  CompTIA / A+ forum / Book Question on: July 19, 2002, 09:03:39 AM
No.....this is not the only book I have used. I have the dummies book as well as the my college text books. I picked up the Crayton book about a month ago. It was the newest book out and addresses the adaptive format. It doesent seem to go into as much detail as some of the other war and peace size books.
It seemed more of a book designed to prepare you to pass the test and not flood you with info you did not need.

A very easy read, and it came with a CD as well. I just had not heard of anyone else using it to prepare.

I take as many practice exams as I can and seem to do well enough (high 80's -high 90's).
I guess I will find out on Tuesday.
Thanks
