Title: v5.5 vs v2000?
Post by: chalksoft on February 20, 2002, 03:01:11 PM
Hi there,
I've just completed MCSE (Win2K), and am now wishing to add Exchange to the basic qualification.  CBT Nuggets produce excellent video-based training, which I used for the MCSE, and now I see they've just released Exchange 5.5  Question:  Is there any point in doing 5.5, when Exchange 2000 is already out there?  My problem is that I really liked the CBT training and would like to continue with them, except i don't want to spend all that time + money on an outdated qualification.

Help anyone?

:D with this question is that 5.5 and 2000 are both out there.  I would see what is most popular in your area and do the corresponding exam.  You can always update if 5.5 dies out!!

Do 2000 unless you have a really compelling reason to stay with 5.5 (like it's all you're likely to ever use).  Where's the demand for 5.5 going to come from when everyone's moving off it?

Go with what mistyRing is suggesting. Study the latest exchange server. You'll be more self assured and ready with the latest developments.

You can always go backwards if you wish to learn 5.5

Why does everyone seem so hung up on getting the latest and greatest qual? Go for 5.5 first, it will (believe it or not) help with 2k...trust me

Hi all,

I'm coming to this post late,but it's a flip of a coin between 2000 and 5.5.
Although I'm leaning towards 5.5 as a good base to understand 5.5.
What do ye think??I suppose it's all down to individual preferences?

I agree perfectly with Andy C. I am presently preparing to take exchange 2000. Since I have no background in exchange I have had to study 5.5 very hard like I was going to take a test on it. Believe me, it is paying off in my understanding of exchange 2000. Good luck.
