What order did you do the sections in?

Im thinking server first (easy)
AD (hardest)
Pro (not as easy)
Implementing (relitively easy)

Is this a good action plan??

Title: There's a choice?
Post by: Johnno on November 20, 2001, 12:28:46 AM
G'Day. A question if you will.

When taking this exam, is there a choice on the order you sit the individual sections?

I was unaware of this is all. Maybe I should pay a little more attention to these details. Are there any other funnies with this exam? I presumed that it was four hours one exam straight after the other.

Cheers.

As I understand it you do the sections one at a time with 25-30 questions per section.

the bigproblem there is the % will go down quickly when you drop 1 or 2 questions

Title: Four portions of test
Post by: Sert_chaser on November 22, 2001, 12:07:43 AM
Hi, everyone.

Can anyone tell what are four parts of the test. From previous posting I saw there is
Active directory
Windows 2000 Pro
Windows 2000 Server and
Implementation...
My question is Implementation of what?

Thank you.

Title: Accelerated vs Core Exams.
Post by: Sert_chaser on November 24, 2001, 03:04:37 PM
mcp_mcse, as you pass the monster I have a question to you. I have red Microsoft Curriculum book and ExamPrep book and I have pretty good understanding of the material in there. But then I got Transcenders Tests (Core) and when I looked at the questions I had no idea about them. Neither book I have, covers those questions. And I start to worry if I can pass it at all. Are these exams really that different or Microsoft and CramExam just full us with their books?

sandrewf, thanks for the information.

I find the Questions are not realy harder or easier, if it is the first time you have looked at the Transender Exams the hardest thing is picking out the "active" part of the Question most of the gumpf in the question is just a space filler and not needed for the question.
IE: you have 70 NT 4 clients 120 Win2K Clients and 30 Win98 clients.... so what they are all wins and TCP/IP just get to the point, 220 Clients.
If you can pick the part that makes the question and see what they are asking you whould have covered it in your studdy but it may not have been looked at with other things involved. The thing to remember for the Microsoft exam is the microsoft way of doing things, sure sysdif should work but don't install lots of apps. remeber all you need is office :D

First of all this exam consists of 4 parts..

1 for each core exam...

**** server (Easy)

Installations
Troubleshooting
Connectivity
Printers
Disk arrays
Volumes
Inter OS Connectivity

**** pro (Easy)

Installations
Troubleshooting
Connectivity

**** ad (Tough)

OUs
GPOs
Active Directory
Backups
Restores
TroubleShooting
NTDSUTIL

**** network infra.

RIS (Very Import)
DNS
WINS
TCP/IP problems, subnetting, supernetting etc.
Proxies
Agents
RRAS
VPN
Routers

I saw the trancenders and found too many duplicate questions. They are a big hype and need quite some time to go through. Better purchase a test prep that offers small questions and answers that actually appear in the exam. FOr the 11th hour, i can suggest mcpquestionbank.com or cheatexams.com.

Know your concepts well and read the questions very very well. I got a tip from mcpquestionbank.com saying do not use the back button as there is a bug in the ms software. So avoid using it for all of your exams in the future.

Believe in yourself and just go for it. N don't forget your pal at Jack (tillgates@eth.net) when kill this exam. Share the joy and it will grow.

Luv n Luck
Jack

Title: Four portions of the exam.

Guys,
one more question. There is four portions of the exam and I heard that you can take one brake. If so, how time is managed? Are they count total time for all four portions, or each portion has it's own time?

On Dec 21 went to take the exam. Passed it about three hours (took a time to read questions carefully). As I used Transcender's core four for practice, exam questions were piece of cake. You said it right Jack, actual questions easier and not that complicated  as Transcender‘«÷s are.
I want to thank you guys for your responses to my questions. One more to go 70-219 for MCSE 2000.

Title: Congrats

Title: 70-219 ahead.
Post by: Sert_chaser on December 28, 2001, 04:04:00 PM
Hey, Jack. Did you take 70-219? As I'm  prepering for it, any sugestions for what the best material to use for it. I heard that Troytec is good. Do they have good material for this one? Any thoughts?

Thank you.

Title: Oh no
Post by: mcp_mcse on December 28, 2001, 04:32:07 PM
No Sert,

Troytec is useless. I've seen almost all of their guides. Try some other good provider.

Luv n Luck
Jack
