Ok after reading all your posts, I`m interested in knowing something.
I`m currently A+ cerified and am pursuing my mcse.
One great study tool i like is "hands on" as nothing can replace experience!
So seeing as you seem to be a smart guy I thought i would quiz you on a problem I`m having. A friend of mine who`s Mcse couldn`t give me the answer so I tried here as I thought it was a challenge.
About a week ago I made a post about having a muliple boot for my system.
On my primary HD I have windows 98Se on one partition and windows 2000 Pro on the other partition.
On my secondary HD (slave) I have NT 4 Server installed.
I have two choices when it boots up I can boot to 98 or 2000.
I cannot boot to my NT unless I change the settings in my Bios (primary to secondary)
y2k sees the HD but 98 does not but thats because 98 cannot see NTFS.
So my question to you Bobby is this: How can I make it so I have three choices to boot from? I`ve played with the boot.ini and it didn`t work.
Having NT 4 Server has been a very usefull tool to learn the software and like I said hands on is the best.
The best thing of all is what i`m studying for I can actually understand, such as enabling services, auditing etc.
Its real cool to apply what I`ve read and learned to an actual system.
Ok well that`s my question to you so hopefully you can help.
Take care~ studying my *** off!! Mike

I reread your old post as well as this one. Right off hand, I cannot see it, but that does not mean it cannot be done. It's easier to multi-boot with one hard drive than it is with two. Here is one suggestions:
Look into purchasing multi-boot software such as System Commander. I know that it works well multi-booting single hard drives, but I am not sure about multiple hard drives.
I have a lot of notes at home and I will check into that for you. You can try this site as well:

Thanks,
Kasor I don`t have a boot manager, but I have partition magic...which BTW screwed up my files, I`m lucky I have Ghost 5 so I could mirror my disks, fix the problem and re-install my files from the mirror.
Partition magic has a Boot Magic function, but it`s greyed out and I can`t use it for some reason.
I looked into VMware but that only applies to NT and 2000, so that software was useless to me.
I have modified the boot.ini to include NT and the ARC naming scheme, but it won`t do it as it`s looking for netdect.com and ntldr files.
So if I include these files in my primary it screws it up.
I sure wish that 98 could read NTFS.
I used to have a removable HD and it was alot simpler to do but went and bought a CD-R/RW and needed the space.
I know it would be alot easier to find software to do it (or get another system..$$$), but I think one should be able to configure the boot.ini and modify a couple of files to make it happen.
Bobby, thanks for your input, I`ll be looking for your reply if you can find anything...I appreciate it!
without the knowledge and wisdom of people sharing information, we would be lost!
Take care~ Mike

Thanks! that article was really informative! though it talked about muti boot and how to do it, it didn`t mention anything about a secondary HD, just the same though it was very usefull information!
I appreciate it for sure! keep em coming if you have anything else, take care ~Mike

I have had a triple boot with all those set up at one point, but they were all on one HD.
Have you tried installing the OS's in a different order? I personally had to install NT before 2000 (you also have to have Service Pack 3 or 4 installed for NT for it to work, can't rememeber which)

I found out the hard way tha NT likes to be boss, and I`m trying to figure out a way to save my current stuff & install NT on the first partition.
Seems that NT has a mind of its own and when you run setup it defaults onto the first partition and you can`t force it to go on the secondary drive or second partition...it sure made a mess for me....back to the drawing board! Thanks again, Mike
