Novell 5.1 Advanced Admin Test# 50-654
Took this test to maintain my CNE (763 out of 800. 608 required to pass)
Used The Novell Book Novell 5.1 Advanced Admin Course 570 Rev 2.0.
Exam Essentials 5.1 has a new update with this test $60.00 on line and worth every penny. This practice test was right on but it did have some minor errors such as stating that disk drivers are loaded in AUTOEXEC.NCF.

I got 63 strait forward questions many are command line type in.
1. Know all the names for NCF and NLM files to load and unload the enterprise web server components such as NSWEB, NSWEBDN, ADMSERV, NWFTPD, and NVXNEWS. Make your self a table with the extensions and memorize it.
2. You must know how to navigate the Enterprise Web Server config screens. I got one of those pick a link where you would have to pick a link to go to a different screen before you could find the link they are asking about.
3. Questions on FTPREST.TXT and FTP permissions.
4. Questions on the contents of SLP directory objects/agents in NDS and the name of the SLP agent used on large networks.
5. Loading NLSLSP. (I don’t know what Novell is getting at here if I unload NLSLSP it reloads itself before I can.)
6. Several questions on DNS/DHCP objects. (I admin a Novell 5 Dynamic DNS/DHCP Network and still have trouble memorizing the contents of these objects.)
7. Know the basics of NAT and the utility to config.
8. Several questions on which tool to use. Know what you can’t do in ConsoleOne (Certificate Server) and NWadmin. (NDS Partitions). Know that Netware Management Portal can be used form any where in the network.
9. One on the benefits of NSS and one on which utilities to use.
10. Command line question on loading a new application. “Load –a”
11. Memorize what the different NDS repair options in NDS Manager and when/where/partition type to use on.
12. One on how to recovery from a crashed SYS VOL
13. One on CMD and the name of the NLM it uses.
14. No Questions on Backup but don’t ignore it
