I really don't think that she was looking for a "braindump" echidna. I believe that she is looking for advice on how to approach her interview if I am correct.
I'm not that familiar with the role of a software engineer, but I believe that you will be doing a lot of programming.
You don't remember the requirements for the position that you applied? That should give you an idea of what you will be doing.
Good Luck:-)

I am sorry that my sarcasm was a bit obscure in the first post. I really don't mean to start a flame war, but I see no reason why anybody should have that many certificates without working experience, nor how they can even achieve many of them without using braindumps instead of learning the material the long way.
I am not trying to be an IT elitist. I really do like seeing new people coming into this field, but people like Helan are really driving down the value of premier certifications like MCSD, MCDBA, Master CIW, etc.
She is new to the working world, and that is surely no fault of her own. I'm sure her area is not a hotbed for IT. However, by achieving certifications intended for established professionals, she ultimately causes problems to many people. Some of her certs are certainly targeted at people starting out, or for people reaffirming skills. That shows a great deal of conviction for her to get such certificates as i-Net+, A+, the base level CIW, etc...However, when she is able to call herself MCSD, MCDBA, and Master CIW without being in the workforce yet...well, that greatly devalues those certificates. I wouldn't care, but I am investing a great deal of time and energy into achieving my MCSD and hopefully CIW, and it is disheartening to think it may not distinguish me as much as it would have before these certificates became braindump targets.
I wish no ill will towards Helan. In fact, I think the fact that she has spent this much energy towards certification will surely help her. But I advise her to be careful. Many people in the IT world, like myself, view the achievement of premier certifications prior to work experience as a suspicion, and well, a threat.
As for interviews, expect anything and everything. I've had interviews full of cliche questions "Where do you see yourself in 5 years?" all the way up to ones that are totally technical in nature and are very stressful. Most career sites have good interview tips, such as monster.com, headhunter.net, etc...

I agree with your last thread echidna, but I am th etype who gives a benefit of a doubt.
Whereas some people would spend years in school, some people spend months taking test. From what I have seen, true knowledge rises during the interview. That's when real world, not on the test, not found in a braindump questions are asked.

I think the interview is most likely over the phone with a software company either in the states, the UK or Europe. These companies post job opening in the these countries for the cheaper labor. I talk with guys from India, Pakistan and China all the time and most of the time they are wanting to get the certs so that they can set up a interview with a good look'in resume and maybe get to a better place to live and make money. Nothing wrong with that but the interview will be tough. programming questions in every programming laugauge you can think of. They may even want to see some examples. Here's a old trick for programmers. Tell them that you dream in code. They eat that up. That alone will get you a good mark. I've known guys to get a programming job and they said that is what clintched it. Truth be known, most programmers do dream in code. Later.

Okay Guys:
Helan2 - I'm jumping to your defence right now.
Guys, Helan2 said she had an interview as a software engineer, and that she is new to that field. She didn't say she was new to the IT field. For all any of you know she has been working as a network adminstrator or a data base administrator, and has more experience in those fields than any of you! She only said she was new to software administration.
She also never said in her post how old she is, or how long she has held some of those certifications. She has been accused by some of you for tearing down the value of the certification. I think that is a totally unfair statement. You don't know how many years she has been working towards this. And again, she only said she had no experience as a software administrator, so you don't know if she has experience in the other fields or not - and my guess is, she probably does, and if she's anything like me, she'll be in tears after she reads all you guys jumping all over her.
The rudest post of all was when she was asked if she thought the interview would be multiple choice. Nobody here has any right to judge, and the last time I checked none of us were God. There was no basis to believe from her post that she had no experience in IT, just that she had no experience as a software administrator. Every body just jumped to conclusions.
Thank you Bobby Digital for giving her the benefit of the doubt. I think that it is great that you weren't as quick as the others to jump to conclusions.
Helan2 - before the interview, find out as much as you can about the company you are interview for. Be prepared to ask them questions at the interview, employers love to see that you have taken the time to familiarize yourself with the company.
Also, be prepared for testing. Some companies preset problem environments, and during an interview, give the prospective employee, an opportunity to fix the problem. Basically, who ever fixes it right in the least amount of time gets the job.
If you need any help preparing for this interview, e-mail me and I will help you.
------------------
Sincerely,
Paisleyskye
Best wishes and peace to all!!!

dear friends,
thanks u Paisleyskye and galaxygal for
the comments.
anyway my interview was successful for the
job software engineer.
yep,i am new in this software engineer job
but i am not a paper certificate that i have.
i do know the programming stuff and networking stuff.
anyway, it is hard to get a job even though
u have good certificate or diploma.seriously.
wat employer want the most is experience workers with 2 or 3years.which i have only
one year experience in networking line.
so asking advice here, just to expect the unexpected questions.however i did not find
anyone giving me any advice.but nevermind!
i will start as software enginner this monday.they
hire me.i told them i only have working experience in networking and not software programming, however i do understand the basic
level of programming.well they pause a moment
reading the form i fill in and my resume and
tell me when can i come to work.i guess i am
lucky.but i main job is get a highpay for networking which i am searching now.in the mean time i just work as software engineer,
and see wat i can learn in the position.
thre are alot of questions they ask me about
software programming which i try my best to
answer with the knowledge i have learn so far.but the most important words i add is,
I AM WILLING TO LEARN AND WORK HARD.
AND TO REPLY TO GALAXY GAL, I DO WANT SOME
OF YOUR ADVICE OR TIPS FOR the interview stuff IN THE FUTURE. would be appreciated if
u could email me..thanks!
my email is conrei@skybiz.com
