Will Net+ or A+ make a difference?

I'm pretty confident that I can pass the Net+ exam, but I'm just really
curious about whether or not it'll help me get a career in networking. My
major goal is CCNA, and eventually CCNP, which I have no doubt will help my
chances in getting a career in networking... Will Net+ help me quite a bit,
or is just like a boyscout badge (just something to carry around in your
wallet)?

probably not. The CISCO exams will help you more in a career in networking.
However, having the A+ and Net+ will show you have the basics covered so it
wouldn't hurt to have them.

Dammit! That sucks, since I'm already out on my own, working a shit job
for a living, and going to college at the same time. I was hoping it may
help me live a little better than I am now. What a let down. Oh well.

Don't let it get you down; as the other author mentioned it shows you have
the basics and there's potential for more.

Network+ represents the first step.

Its better to have it than not, and its worth the amount of effort
required to obtain it, which is generally 1-3 months study time.

Re: Will Net+ or A+ make a difference?

Hello,

I got my A+ and Net+ to get into a college course that demanded a high level
of math skills for entry. Although it is true that the cards just sit in my
wallet, they got me into a course that should help out my career immensely.
Net+ is really an entry level cert that states you know your way around a
network. Not an expert but you won't unplug the server in the middle of a
backup.
