With the lack of information you have not supplied, I can't help you any farther than to tell you to look it up.

Look in the man pages of what ever Distro you have installed pertaining to Lan Cards.

also go to the vendors websight for the specific distro you have.
Red Hat & Mandrake [among others] have excellent online documentation & how to's.

The Linux System Administrators Guide & The Linux Network Administrators Guide are also excellent resources. They are free downloads. Do a google search for them.

what kind of information do you want.
i am trying to configure my system as a squid proxy.i have a cable modem through which i will connect to the internet.
i am running redhat linux 7.2
