study fustrations

Hi group

I come here for some inspriation. ( pls no smartarse remarks).
I'm doing Sem 2 of CCNA. Exams on thursday.

Ive been studying for days now and I do all the prep tests, but it seems im
not getting the hang of whats going on. I can understand the whole concept
of what to do, but at the crunch time when I go to answer the prep tests I
get most of them wrong.

Can anybody advise me of thier study habits and what works for them?

Thanks

Joe

Re: study fustrations

Do you have hands on with any routers? I found that messing with them over
and over is what gave me the best confidence (due to actual ability). If you
don't have real routers, then the simulator from Cisco is another way to
approach it. There are a lot of things you can't do on the sim that are part
of the curriculum in the academy, but you can at least become comfortable
with most of the configuration commands.

Sometimes the chapter test questions are worded funny, so take your time and
read the questions carefully. If you are allowed to review which ones you
got wrong, try to figure out why you got them wrong. For me, it is usually
because I rushed through and thought I had the right answer and didn't read
carefully. Other times it is because I neglected to read a certain paragraph
in the book that had specific information about a command.

Yo Joe, don't get frustrated, it's pretty complicated stuff. You should read the post about how Cisco Certs are worthless, because there are some good points. Just don't get frustrated too much now, cause you've got a long way to go.

Re: study fustrations

Hi Jason, Widgewaam,

Thanks for the reply

No Idont have a router, and Im using the sims. basically what ive worked out
is that its good to go through all the class quizzes and the ones through
the book (First Year Compaion Guide). This way I can cover a little of
everything. The end of semester 2 exam will probably be based around those
type of questions. Anyway Ill see how I go thursday.
