Managing Cisco Network Security v3.0

Hello all,

I just passed the CID exam last friday, so now I am CCNP&CCDP.

Now I want to obtain the new Cisco VPN Specialist certification, but I don't know nothing about what books I should buy. The first exam I must pass is the "Managing Cisco Network Security 3.0". Is any book out there wich covers this exam?

Thanks in advice.

Unhappy Nope

Not any yet.. Sybex is delaying it till March 31
Ciscopress has not yet released
But I think the old mcns 2.0[Remove the CBAC and Proxy authentication] cisco press book and some http://www.cisco.com/univercd/
will do

http://www.cisco.com/warp/public/10...ms/640-100.html

the major difference is no Pix Firewall

cbac and proxy auth is removed from cspfa3.0

----
How to study for mcns+ True guide

Learn chapter 1-7,15,16 of the MCNS 2.0 press book
Anyway u are gona study pix & vpn for the CCSP
so
learn chapter 12 and 13 its the cbac and proxy auth from cspfa 2.0 press book
learn chapter 3 from csvpn its the ios ipsec preshared and ca

The topic missing: cisco ios firewall ids configuaration from the mcns3.0 objective
[I guess its in CSIDS 2.0 press book didnt go through it bt may be soon]
Only topic thats not mentioned in printed doc is the "configuring ios remote access using cisco easy vpn" ---U get it up in the www.cisco.com/univercd/-- silly[tip search]

What about VPN?

Ok, thanks for the info

Now, what book or materials should I use for preparing the new CSVPN 3.0 exam? Will the CIscoPress "CSVPN 2.0" be enough?

Maybe you could create a "how to study for CSVPN 3.0 True Guide" ? hehe

Thanks in advice.

Regards.

OK guys, i was about to go take the MCNS test but then read about there not being any PIX stuff on there...OK thats odd, but i ll deal with it.

I was going to register for the Exam Number: 640-100 test. I have been reading the MCNS ISBN1-57870-103-1 book...

My question is not only directed @ breakblast but all of u out there...

As stated my BB, which i am referencing below..Nows lets say i only read the MCNS book that i noted above, wuld i have a snowballs chance in hell of passing that test, or do i still need to keep on reading & practicing. I was hoping that the PIX stuff would be on there, since i feel that i have it down pat....Hah no pun intended there...Btw Bb have u gotten yur MCNS done cuz i dont see any cert info on yur logo...

Please advise. Thnx all.....

mcsn 3.0

Well, since Cisco has changed the MCSN exam, I don't think that you be able to pass It only with the old MCSN book.

But I am not sure.

Well hassasin & others. I have been going over the items that i need for the MCNS one, i realize only having the MCNS book isnt going to help passing the test. But i ll get over that.

Can some of yall tell or elaborate on the context of the CS ACS portions of the test, its like ok so i know how to install it, mem requirements crap like that...Also what gives on Cisco Easy VPN, is there a link or any links that i can read on cisco. Yall know its a chore finding stuff there @ times.....

I am not asking for anyone to give away the exam, i just want to know what i need to study, cuz i went head in learing a lot bout the PIX firewall itself & can pretty much pass it if that was a part of the exam...

Any info or links ll be greatly appreciated. Thx all.....

Ps hassasin, what books are u reading for this test, or have read ???

books

Hi,

Well, I am following the instructions from BreakBlast,so:

- Chapters 1-7 & 15-16 from MCNS 2.0
- Chapters 12 & 13 from CSPFA 2.0
- Chapter 3 from CSVPN 2.0
- "cisco ios firewall ids configuaration"
from CSIDS 2.0
- "configuring ios remote access using cisco
easy vpn" from the Cisco Web site.

I hope that will be enough for the new MCNS 3.0 exam..

Regards.
