A newbie (I) would ask a question about CCNA...

I haven't touched a CISCO router before but I would like to learn it. Can I use Sybex CCNA VirtualLab Gold Edition to practice and get some experience?

It depends on whether or not you have an aptituide for it. It comes easy to some and hard to others.

My advice is get a second hand copy of a router sim (like SYBEX Router Sim) at www.Amazon.com. Look for the used copies.

I purchased one for $15 and it prepared me well for CCNA.

honestly..to pass CCNA on the simulation part...it is easy...just lot of type and time matter...

just read the book can pass the exam too. Unless you really wanna get your hand onto it

best recommendation:

go to cisco site...they have simulation Demo.
and that how the test will look like....really close but not exact.

I didn't like the sybex router sim. I got it used for like $10 I think the router sim from routersim.com is way better(as far as simulators go) www.r1r2.com is also a great place to go. But sometime down the line you will want to get a real router to play with that way you will have a batter idea of how it all works.
