172.16.10.5
172.16.10.0/0000101
255.255.255.1/0000000

The broadcast is easy just turn all host positions on (1's)= 172.16.10.127

The subnet address is obtained by turning all host poistions off (0's)= 172.16.10.0

The host range is one more than the subnet address= 172.16.10.1 to one less than the broadcast= 172.16.10.126

hope this helps

I think it may have been a typo, Marker, but the subnet address should read: 172.16.10.0

Cheers,

I have had the same problem learning subnetting. Probably one of the hardest areas. Todd's (Sybex) CCNA study guide is good but you have to keep going over it.
There's another good site to give you a second opinion.

http://www.learntosubnet.com

I just checked it out this weekend on a DSL line, and it wasn't too bad (the sounds took forever to load up otherwise)
Good luck
