i know that there are going to be changes on the MCP and MCSE by the end of the year. However, I want to pursue my MCP+I by the end of the year. Can somebody tell me what will happen if I don't finish the completion of the certifications? If I do finish will I still be in demand? Will I be able to continue in MCSE w/ the changes carrying my MCP+I?

Test for the NT 4.0 track retire on Dec. 31, 2000. All MCSEs and MCPs must be recertified for Windows 2000 by Dec. 31, 2001. If I am correct, there will not be an MCP+Internet(or MCSE+Internet) anymore. This link will give you more details: http://www.microsoft.com/trainingan...pi&AnnMenu=mcpi


As you know, there has been (and still is) a lot of confusion (and anger) concerning Microsoft's "new" certification approach. If you haven't taken any test yet, you have from now until Dec. 31st to take (and pass)3 test (Exams 70-059, 70-067, and 70-087).

If you pass all three exams, you will be an MCP+Internet, BUT that certification will not exist anymore. As far as that is concerned, in my opinion if you earn it, you've got it. You just won't be "current" so-to-speak. I doubt very seriously anyone from Microsoft will come to your house and take your certification away.

One thing to look at is to earn your MCP+Internet and then just start fresh with your MCSE on the Windows 2000 track. You can list both on your resume as separate certifications and still be current in Microsoft's eyes.

As far as still being in demand, companies will still be using NT 4.0 after Dec. 31, 2000, Dec. 31, 2001, Dec. 31, 2002........
