Dear FOrum,
Took the CCNA today and I failed with a score of 784/1000. I thought I passed but it wasnt to be.
I took off work all next week and will re-take on Friday.
I know what to expect now and my weaknesses are in BOLD print right in front of me. If you can believe it, I got 41% on the OSI model. OUch!
I self-studied 100% and used Odems, ICND, E-trainer and Boson.
Ive heard that transcenders are a good investment so Im going to purchase their goods.
Boson test really didnt help much.
ANy suggestions or words of encouragement?
Sean
PS- NO OSI wise-cracks

Don't let it get you down, bud... It happens to the best of us. It's still a bummer though.
If you rack your brains for the next week, you'll ace the exam the next time around, I just know you will.
Cheers,
Skip

Sea Dragon,
This is off topic, but I couldn't help it... Try to turn off "Caps Lock"; when you write in all caps, it's like you're shouting. Some people might misinterpret your posts because of this.
Cheers!

Hi sean34,
Don't let it get you down. You weren't far off. I don't know if you've seen my Web site, but it might be of assistance to you. It's at:
http://unite.com.au/~u4399a/CCNA Study Tips.htm
As a suggestion, try asking yourself basic questions like:
What is frame relay?
What is TCP?
What is IP?
Describe the process of encapsulation from the application layer down to the physical layer.
Try to explain these things verbally or in writing to yourself (or your girlfriend, if you have one) without any aid of textbooks etc. When you can do this, I believe you know your stuff well.
Cheers, and chin up!
Deets

Sean,
Just continue to think CISCO for the next one week. You will pass on Friday, your last score is not bad. Read up once again, if you have some cash I will rather you buy Exam Essentials. Make sure you read over everything, the questions will not be the same as the last time! Best wishes.

Normally, Dragons do not shout. So, in a sense you are right. Mostly they just breath fire or give an occassional "arrrrgh". Who knows for sure though. All my info comes from the Discovery channel...

What works for me is to pull up my word processor, put the book in front of me, and key-in/summarize the info in the book into my word processor. Make tables, diagrams, etc. to act as mental reminders (I made an ISDN reference points diagram with the definitions).
If the OSI model is your weak point, try making a list of what each layer does.

I'm not sure, but judging by what he's saying I don't think he's shouting.
Cheers!
P.S.
It's nice to see that people are actually using that Disney channel.
