Graphics
Anybody here know hoe to use the GIMP or Photoshop? I have found myself in the unenviable position of having to create some web graphics, and being a die-hard hand coder, I haven't a clue as to how to make visually appealing gifs. Any advice?

What kind of graphics do you need to make?
I'm not good with grpahics either but I have fooled around with both photoshop and Illustrator. my old college site I created the simple menu buttons in photoshop.
You might be able to find some simple tutorials on the web too.
Good Luck

The web site I manage is: http://www.mybr.cc/ -- the problem is that there are certain graphical portiuons of the site that I need to add . . . for example, I need to add an extra menu item at the bottom and top of the page (the grey and brown gifs in the menu table are what I am talking about). See the attached image for an example. It's nothing major, but no one here know how to do it, and I am not about to bring in some expensive consultant to make the two or three graphics that I need. So what i want is simple. I need a gif that I can add text to in the same font consistent with the other gifs on the page and make sure the background colour is the same to give it a uniform look. This shouldn't be that difficult.
I have got meself a PhotoShop 6 book, but it may take a while to get through, especially for a graphics-moron like me.
Thanks for any help.

Linux Guy,
If you know what the font type and size was
it would be simple enough but if not it would take a bit more work.
If you know what the font is I suggest opening the the attached file in photoshop
rename it, use the back ground color to cover up the text then put it the text you need.
Good Luck

I need one with the word "SACS" on it. I need both a brown one and a grey one (like at the top and bottom of the site I gave). Thanks for your help. If you can tell me how you did it, that would also be useful. Thanks again.

...?
Hi Mr. Linux Guy,
What size you want? (ie.width and height)
If you are not sure, then which buttons you would like to be replaced?
Regards,
Ian

Just try taking the buttons I posted here and using the word "SACS" in the same font and size that they are on the grapbics I posted if possible. I need one with the dark grey background and another with the light brown background.
Sure, take all the time you need, it's not urgent, although it is hurting my rep here as the "guy who knows everything".
