Just passed 70-306 !!
I passed 70-306 yesterday! (On my first try!)
There were two surprises:
1) All the sample tests and source material I got before the test suggested it would be around 50 questions in 90 minutes. But it was 60 questions in 150 minutes.
2) Microsoft's cert site discussed new test technologies - even giving three sample downloads so you could get use to the new "drag-drop" ways of answering the questions. But the test itself was only multiple choice. And not a single "exhibit".

I did the following to prepare to take 70-306:
> Studied thru "Microsoft's Self paced training kit" book. It's a good book but the chapter on security was incomplete and the chapter on ADO.NET was worst than useless.
> So I went thru those sections on microsoft.com.
> I also browsed thru books on ADO.net in the bookstore.
> Finally, I kept retaking a practice test from www.SelftestSoftware.com. It would tell me which sections I was weakest on, so then I would further review that material.
> I wrote lots of VB.net programs.

I used the the Microsoft Exam books. To be honest unless you really do a few projects. The books really won't help to pass the test by themselves.
