MAPI Problems

Xref: TK2MSFTNGP08 microsoft.public.exchange2000.connectivity:9177 microsoft.public.exchange2000.admin:52786

Hi,

I have a question that has been bugging me for about the past few days now.
I am running Exchange 2000 Enterprise on a domain controller, and the GC
server is on another machine. I have installed Exchange-2000 and everything
is running great. The only problem that I am having, is that I can not
connect users to the Exchange server using Microsoft Outlook.

Here are the steps that I am following:

Right click Microsoft Outlook
Hit Properties
Click E-Mail Accounts
Click "Add New E-Mail Account"
Click "Microsoft Exchange Server"
Enter in the Exchange Server
Enter in the user name
I click "Check Name" and it says, "The action could not be completed. The
name could not be matched to a name in the address list."

What I don't understand though is that all of the mailboxes are created, and
they work perfectly. I can check all of them through OWA, and through POP3,
but I can not do anything through MAPI. Can anyone help me out? I'd really
appreciate it.

I am running Exchange-2000 with SP3.

Thanks,

Ethan Melloul

Re: MAPI Problems

Ru,

Check this KB article:

http://support.microsoft.com/defaul...kb;en-us;297801

The most common causes I have seen for this problem are either that the user
account does not have Read permissions on the Active Directory OU that
contains the account, or that the GC was recently promoted and has not yet
been rebooted to initialize the NSPI interface.

Re: MAPI Problems

Thanks man! This worked. I rebooted the GCS and it worked perfectly.
Thanks a lot for your help.
