Possible Browser Hijack Attempt?
Hi Everybody,
I've just finished downloading and installing Ad-Aware on my system. I've got a list of suspcious files and folders, along with this message:
Possible Browser Hijack attempt data:Software\Microsoft\Intern
et Explorer\Main"Search Bar" (Possible Browser Hijack attempt)
Is anyone familiar with this?
Thanks.

Maybe a hijacker wanted to get control of your browser, so it could crash it and bring down your OS?
(Insert tasteless terrorism joke here.)

well, I was spending some time in a chat room on one of the music networks recently, that I found through WinMx. Even though I have Norton Internet Security on my system, I still wonder about those people...
kind of a mean bunch...I left on bad terms...
just wondering if they could have done something to my system...plus my departure seems to coincide with the time I started having my "runtime errors"...

You sure it's not a virus symptom? Some viruses can infect your computer through IE (no other browser though, luckily).

SomeGuy has a good point here. You should make sure that your virus definitions are current, if not update then NOW.

well, I have Norton Internet Security and Anti Virus. I just updated it the other day. Also, the virus program updates automatically on it's own.
I'm going away for two weeks so I'll have to wait till I get back to post on the Ad-aware forum to see if anyone knows about it on there.
