I was very happy with the Sybex study guides and used them for my
Microsoft, CompTIA, and now Cisco studies. If you work your way
through the books along with some hands on time you should be fine.
Some links for these and other materials are availabe at:

Good luck!

Re: Getting the MSCE
I would stay clear of Sybex if I were you. They are erroneous and their
content is very dry (as compared to other publishing companies). If I were
you I would use (and have personally used):
MCSE: Microsoft Press
Cisco: Cisco Press
Oracle: Oracle Press
Get the books from the vendor themselves.
Cheers,

Re: Getting the MSCE
Well sure I have to recertify when the time comes, but that is not every
year. For instance when i get my CCNP and CCDP, that means I never have to
recertify on my CCNA and CCDA (only CCNP/CCDP). If i get CCIE i dont ever
have to recertify on CCNP (only CCIE). Each vendor has different
requirements. I dont have to recertify on my microsoft, they will always be
retained. If i want to upgrade to .NET I take an upgrade exam etc.
cheers,
bobwonky
