What difference?
I don't think any of the regular posters here even have the CIW cert.
You might be better off checking the official web sites and looking at the objectives.
I think Comptia has more brand recognition in corporations in the U.S.
The + is somewhat more recognizable I think.

Thanks!
I will join Security+ Exam and CIW Security Professional as well. It is because I will try to get the CIW Server Administrator. It needs to pass the Security Professional.
Ar! I have seen someone's post that mentioned the Security+ Exam has been restructured. Is that means no books are updated to prepare the Security+ Exam?
Thanks for your kindly help!
Regards,
Ian

Restructured, no.
A test that rides in on a broom, yup.
The word is some of the wording from the beta was cleaned up (a little). That means some questions are tough to figure out where they are going.
When you need 83% right to hit miminum pass... that makes vague questions down right ugly. A+ core has some famous doozie's too.... Bad graphics.
On a side note, I see LaserGrade (Vancouver, WA) is selling vouchers for Security+ for $165. That is the lowest price I have seen and I know LaserGrade is a straight up firm, based on several years of my experience with them....

Ummm... You got me wondering.... Here's the deal with CompTIA in general.
Each cert is run by a program manager.
The program manager works with X number of companies, (by type of business, and other factors) to create the test.
The same program manager works within the business side of Comptia.org to work out pricing, language availiblity, etc.
So each Manager in the end comes up with X.
Pricing in your country can be Completely Different than say, Mexico or Canada or the US. Or, not. It depends on how the magic wand and business meetings go with the program manager.
Since I am heavly involved in training materials for Security+, I am as far away from this CompTIA group as you are. Myself and CompTIA had a little chat about this in '99 and the appearence of a conflict of interest.
Because I choose to Train Security+, I have ZERO knowledge of anything, including the program managers name. As I have been focusing 100% on CompTIA (training) and now spending 0% on MS, I have had to back away from the phone calls and trips to CompTIA meetings. So I no longer have that data off the top of my head. I suspect the web site will give you some answers. If not, let me know and I will pass the question through to a CompTIA exec. who can pass it down to the Security+ program manager.
