how to set up a DNS server?
Hi everybody,
I just planning to study the 210 and 215 in this coming holiday... I just install a win 2k server in my old system (Pentium 200mmx with 64 mb). I do have one NIC in my system. I want to promote it to Active Directory. but b4 that, do i have to set up the DNS server or DHCP server?
As I don't have any experience on server, could someone help me out what preparation should i do in order to get a domain backgound for my on coming study?
Thank a lot.
Andy

As you run DCPROMO, it will install and configure DNS for you.If there is no other DNS Server on the Network, it will become the DNS Server.
Later point all the Workstations to that DNS Server for AD to work properly.
The DNS Server will also be it's own DNS Client, having the primary DNS to an outside DNS the ISP provides for you, and then the secondary DNS will be it's own.
I hope i got this all right...hmmmm.
Let us know, how it went.
