Question Ris

I have a question regarding RIS. The book I am reading says that you identify a path to the remote installation folder, then enter a path to the W2K Pro source files, and then create a Windows Installation Image folder. As I understand it, this is where the source files are copied to from the CD-ROM. When this whole process is complete, does this create an unattended type of install?? or do you manage it from the server? Since I've never done this, I'd just like to make sure I understand the actual process.

Thanks,

Eric

Don't quote me on this because its been awhile but for an unattended install you need to create:

unattend.txt
a uniqueness Database file

Any managing you would do as far as while installing, would be done from those files or from the PC that the OS is being installed from.

If I understand you correctly, you are saying that for an unattended install of any type you need unattend.txt and .udf files. With regard to RIS, the installation is being performed via the RIS service on the server and the workstation either needs user input or the files mentioned earlier to sucessfully perform the install of W2K Pro. Does that make sense?
