About Security Cert...
Dear Experts,
I would like to study an entry level security cert before CISSP.
Which one of the below cert would be good?
1. Security+
2. CIW Security Professional
3. CIW Security Analyst
Or any other suggestion.
Would you please give me some advise?
Thanks,
Ian

All of them are good because the cert that you are trying to get is no cake walk and any
knowledege you gain in the other certs cant do anythingbut help.

Check out SCP
I would suggest the SCP. securitycertified.net for a great security education, and one that can be used as a launching pad into the CISSP if you wish.
If you want pure entry level, then Security+ is a good bet. When you want to move to more complex issues, and to have a hands-on program, then the SCP is great.

disclaimer - Yes I do work for the SCP, so this post may be baised.

I looked into the SCP when we were looking for a security cert to teach. The books at the time were pitiful. That pretty much was the end of that for that cert.
I have not seen the latest books, so I cannot comment. I did end up writing my own study guide and I have been teaching with it ever since.
You are right to not start directly with the CISSP. Security+ could be a good first bet.

Good also...
Hi,
Is that enough to perpare the Security+ cert?
The table of content is very interesting. For a newbie(me), it seems very helpful. Would you please give me a bundle discount? Buy 1 get 1 free (Security+ and Linux+)
THanks!
Ian

PLease note that it was not developped as a study guide for Security+, although a lot of the material covered in it also match with that test. It will not be an exact fit.
As for a special deal, let's take it off this forum, and email me at freak@mcsefreakpress.com and we can talk about it
