Favorite non-standard linux distro.
I am sure you all know that there are over a hundered
distributions of linux, and they are not all popular, so who
here actualy uses a... dare I say "Strange" one? By stange
I mean like Gelecek, MIZI and LASER5. Also, why do you like
it. And yes I know that I can read about them all by
myself, and that most are probably just red hat rip offs,
but I'm just curious.

Re: Favorite non-standard linux distro.
Some are very specialised, like will run off a floppy or off
CD without installing onto a hard drive, or can be used on a
486 etc. Others will let you configure your machine exactly how
you want it from installation so you use the minimum disk space
and have the fastest machine. Still more are based for server
use only and some for different types of CPU i.e. alpha chips
etc. You need to deside exactly what you want to use your
machine for and how, before you start experimenting with
the lesser known distros.
There are also distros specialised for firewall or audio use
the disabled etc. to my knowledge there are around 320 distros
at this time if you include all the processor types.

Q: Why do people use non-standard distro's?
A: Because they want to.
If you were to ask something more specific maybe you will get a response
more valid than the above, but when asking for a reason why someone uses
the distro they use, you're asking something similar to:
Q: Why do (some) people eat toast for breakfast?

remember this is the sequence of events, in no particular order

I didn't mean is as in "Who are these people?", but more as
a question directed the actual toast eaters, but I guess the
fact that the distros are unpopular kinda hampers the number
of people who read this newsgroup and use one of these
distros. Oh well.
