Question

Hi

I am at a dilemma on which 1 Microsoft exam to study for in order to gain MCP status. I have had 3 years IT systems experience, mainly as a support engineer and providing information using MS Office etc. I have recently passed CompTIA's A+, Network+ and i-Net+ certifications. I appreciate that the new MCSE Win 2000 track is now available, I have no experience with Win 2000 or NT and as I am studying full-time at home using my own funds I need to keep costs to a minimum. Before I start serious job-hunting it would be great to obtain the MCP status so I would appreciate advice on the best exam to pursue related to my previous experience. I understand that various exams like Win95 are now retired so my choice might well be limited.

Thanks for your help,
KL

Thumbs up

Well I will attempt to answer your question I have no certifications as of yet but from your post and with your work experience I think I would go for Server exam 70-67. Workstation deals more with support, like managing users and accounts and local and global groups. Server is more hard ware and more in-line with you previous experience. I have not looked at Server in the Enterprise, but just from the exam name I would imagine it is like Server and how it deals with the larger applications. My two cents worth...any of the 3 exam will give you MCP status...........all are scheduled for retirement 12/31/2000
