jobs at Microsoft!!!

Soon Microsoft will be in Eastern Europe, interviewing interested and
qualified candidates for software development positions here in the USA at
our corporate headquarters working on our major products.

If you know of anyone that might be interested, or a bulletin board where it
would be appropriate to post this, please forward this email. There are
multiple positions open and candidates will be in competition with
themselves, not each other.

What is a qualified candidate?

* Someone who has (or will be completing this year) a bachelors (four year
or more) degree in Computer Science or a related field

* Someone that has very strong abilities to write code in C/C++

* Someone that is very driven and passionate about technology, desiring to
make software products that will go all over the world

* Someone with fluent English speaking skills

* Experience with Storage technologies, server products and/or system level
programming is a plus

WHATEVER YOU DO, DO IT AT MICROSOFT

The reason so many people from various disciplines come to Microsoft is
because we provide the most exciting challenges in the industry. Since our
inception in 1975, Microsofts mission has been to create software for the
personal computer that empowers and enriches people in the workplace, at
school and at home. Microsofts early vision of a computer on every desk and
in every home is coupled today with a strong commitment to Internet -related
technologies that expand the power and reach of the PC and its users. You
can help shape the industry in nearly countless ways, all while gaining
invaluable experience. Our casual environment lends itself to freer thinking
and therefore, creative problem-solving. However, the coolest part of all is
the diversity of jobs. Youre guaranteed not to be bored.

PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT FULL-TIME POSITIONS

Software Design Engineer

Writes product code and solves complex problems. Proficient in C/C++.

"You come in every morning and check up on what you've built the night
before, see if you've broken anything, or if you've got any bugs to take
care of. Right now I'm working on three different design features, so I've
got maybe three status meetings a week to check in with everybody--the
testers, the developers, the Program Managers, and together we figure out
what we need to do. The core of my job is designing new features and
figuring out how to get them to work. I loved that you could pursue an idea
seriously in college and have other people around to talk to about it. I
wanted to stay in a place like that. And Microsoft turned out to be that
place."

Qualifications: A BA/BS or graduate degree in computer science or related
technical discipline. Strong coding skills, proficiency in C/C++, vision,
and a passion for technical excellence.

Software Design Engineer in Test

Creates tools to test and improve products. Proficient in C/C++.

"Essentially, the old notion was that as a tester," Jake explains, "you'd
get a big chunk of code already written, and debug it. My team is trying to
make computers more useful, so we're looking at everything in a new way:
including testing. Here, I've been able to develop a smarter testing tool,
which I'm trying to patent. And now, I spend a lot of time going around to
other groups in the company, explaining the methodology and working with
them to solve their own problems. I also make sure my product goes up bug
free, and make sure a solution is created for any bugs before it launches. I
meet with other teams and with Developers and Program Managers, and I write
whitepapers. And I help to shape the product early on."

Qualifications: A BA/BS or graduate degree in computer science, electrical
engineering or related technical discipline. Strong coding skills,
proficiency in C/C++, Visual Basic experience, and a relentless attention to
detail.

Software Test Engineer

Designs and executes strategies to test products and delivers input about a
product feature set. Knowledge of Visual Basic? and C++ is useful.

"The product I work on," Andy says, "the Pocket PC, is going to change the
way people live their lives, in the way the PC did 20 years ago. To do it
right, every person has to own a big piece of the problem: mine is test. I
work with project managers, developers, and designers, and I come up with a
plan of attack to test the product we're working on. And then, once we
implement the code, I execute that plan. We triage the bugs that appear in
the code, consider them in terms of severity, and slot them to be fixed.
And," he says with a laugh, "I just have to identify the problems. I don't
have to solve them!"

Qualifications: A BA/BS or graduate degree in computer science, electrical
engineering or related technical discipline. Experience in C/C++ and Visual
Basic experience, and a high degree of concentration.

There are multiple positions open, so please share the information with
someone as good as you are.

All positions are at our corporate headquarters in Redmond, Washington, USA.
We do require functional level English language skills, written and spoken.

If you are interested, please email your CV in English to
esdjobs@microsoft.com

Microsoft is an equal opportunity employer.

Re: jobs at Microsoft!!!

Aren't hundreds of thousands of American programmers pacing the street? And
Microsoft already opened their far east developing center to ultilize the
cheaper local labor, what is enough, lol

This is simply how capitalism works. Companies from western counties
have always attempted to exploit the cheaper resources offered by the
third world. They do not care if it results in unemployment in a
particular country, even if it is the company's country of origin. For
many years companies have been shipping their software development
'off shore' in order to save money; when they can get five VB grunts
over there for the price of one over here, can you blame them? You do
the math!

My own view is that a country's government should do all in it's power
to protect jobs in it's own country, but this does not seem to be the
case, certainly not in the UK & US.

Re: jobs at Microsoft!!!

I have no idea. The message was on an emailing list.
From what I know last Spring MS was in Romania but I might be wrong.
