Zero. It may or may not help you keep or get a job.

Hasn't changed mine at all. But then again, that's not why I did it.

That is true but studying hard for the exams and trying to understand what
it is about and not using braindumps will help you learn new things and add
new skills to your resume. It will also help you answer technical questions
during the interview.

If you do all of these then you will have more chances than someone who did
not take the certification or it did using braindumps!

The most important thing is experience and business knowledge. MS
certs count for very little in the real world.

Re: Higher Salary ?

I agree that experience and attitude is very important.
What I was trying to say is that if you have money and time to get a
certification and study hard for that certification you can add more skills
to your resume.

I have 10+ years of C++ experience, some Java and J2EE. Learning C# was easy
and studying for MCAD wasn't a bug deal. On the same time studying for 228
and 229 was a bug deal because I wanted more than just passing the exam. I
met DBAs and DB developers with supposedly more experience in databases
than I have but they knew less than I know!!!

That's why I'm saying that attitude can make a difference.

And all I was trying to say was 'MS certs count for very little in the
real world' - employers take little notice of them.

Re: Higher Salary ?

I am not noticing that.
Given two programmers, the one with the certs will win.
Sort of takes out the hackers.

No, the one the employer sees as the most suitable for the role.
Usually that means the one with most experienced within the employers
business sector.

>Sort of takes out the hackers.

Not while the exams are so easy to pass, while it is so easy for
people to cheat.

Re: Higher Salary ?

Yes in a way on item one. Experience definitely counts first. I was
implying two with so called equivalent experience.
I totally disagree on item two.
This is from my experience and may not fit for you.
I do have many years of software development experience though.
Other opinions are most welcome but I think the entire topic is getting worn
out.
