Hm....Just to see if it would still do that, why not try another free firewall such as Sygate, Tiny, or Zonealarm.

Hi.
Believe it or not, is a normal issue on some computers. It depends of what type of Os do you have and the Mother Board and Modem you're using.
I just had to remove my own ZA (just 2 days ago) for a similar problem. I have Windows2000 Server, and after hang up the DialUp connections and logoff, the Zone Alarm True Vector Service simply does not close. That cause the PC enter in a never ending logon process. With Windows2000Pro i never had the problem. Now "i'm nude" without my firewall...waiting for a new release or simply try to make a clean install again, removing the ZA registry keys and software.
ZA is good overall, better than Black Ice. Try using ZA or Tiny Personal firewall (one of 'em, of course)
