SQLServerAgent could not be started?

For some reason the SQLServerAgent service will not start.
I've tried restarting the server, using different login
and password for the service, but I keep getting the
following error message:

SQLServerAgent could not be started (reason: Unable to
connect to server '(local)'; SQLServerAgent cannot start).

Any ideas?
Carlton.

Carlton,

If you changed your server name or the service account recently, you may
have failed to update the settings for SQLServerAgent.
