Defining Console Fonts was Re: aterm ?

You can Stacy. You can use either the short switch: '-fn'
Or the "long" version of the same switch: "--font"
You can specify either console fonts like '6x10' or '8x14thin'
http://lll.lgl.lu/~aknaff/LLL/suse/...efonts/8x14thin
Grab that file, gzip it (gzip -9 8x14thin) and stuff it into your consoile
fonts directory (In Slackware: /usr/share/kbd/consolefonts). If you're in
the console you can then just call 'setfont 8x14thin' and watch the magic.
Otherwise, you'll need to specify the font for your x/E/a/terms as was
described earlier.
'8x14thin' used to be included in older versions of Slackware, but isn't
anymore (for whatever reason(s) but it's still one of my favorites.
Equally, If you have TTF installed correctly, you can specify them as well
by using the 'long' description of the font such as this:
aterm -fn -*-arial-medium-r-*-*-12-*-*-*-*-*-*-*
You can get that necessary information from the utility 'xfontsel'.
Currently, I'm using the 'neep' font from Jim Knoble who's web page is
*suposed* to be here:
Jim's Web Nook | X11 Fonts
http://www.ntrnet.net/~jmknoble/fonts/
But, it appears to be down at the moment.
Alternatively you could use the Debian package archives as well.
I know. You're looking at me funny now.
Here, let me explain:
http://packages.debian.org/stable/x11/xfonts-jmk.html
One nice thing about Debian's package archive is that they not only kep
track of the pre-compiled packages, but the SOURCE & related patches as
well. That's where you & I come in as Slackware users.
At the bottom of every package's page they include the link to the
original source package, as well as the patches used along side of it.
In this instance you can see that there's both the original source:
http://ftp.debian.org/debian/pool/m...3.0.orig.tar.gz
as well as the patch to upgrade the source:
http://ftp.debian.org/debian/pool/m...k_3.0-3.diff.gz
So, you can se how the Debian package archives serves as a nice 'mirror' of
sorts when the actual developer's website is down/missing. =)
At any rate, I'm currently using the following in all my 'normal'
transparent aterms: -fn -jmk-neep-medium-*-*-*-13-*-*-*-*-*-*-*
I use the same font, only at size '15' for slrn & 'moc'
MOC (Music On Console)

To the OP:
Your original question of 'where do I find these?' can be answered by
looking for the directory 'consolefonts'. You'll see many others listed
in that directory that you can try out to see if you like them or not.
On Slackware machine that directory is located at
/usr/share/kbd/consolefonts
Of course, depending upon your actual distro, that location could vary.
